Emefcy Presents - The Megawatter System eytanlevy - 44 views - 3 weeks ago
Emefcy's MEGAWATTER™ platform is a commercial implementation of Microbial Fuel Cells (MFC) technology for direct electricity or hydrogen generation on a large scale, while using wastewater as fuel. This concept revolutionizes the energy and wastewater sectors by treating the organic materials dissolved in water as a source of energy.
In many cases, the Companys systems will not only offset the high energy needs of wastewater treatment, but will actually produce excess energy that can be fed into the grid on a constant base-load basis the holy grail of distributed renewable energy.
No less important to Emefcys customers is the reduced sludge that results from an MFC process sludge which otherwise needs to be treated and/or removed in costly processes.
In the majority of industrial wastewater streams (those with high organic matter and salinity) Emefcy's technology provides treatment solutions where very few cost-effective alternatives exist.
Emefcy is initially targeting industrial wastewater treatment plants. While upgrading such an existing plant, the customer benefits include low-cost electricity from a renewable source, considerable reduction in the amount of excess sludge to be treated and removed and carbon credits. Typical payback time for such installation is 3-4 years.
