Songs We Need #11: traditional song "Jackaro" (also "Jack-a-roe", "Jack-a-ro" and other variants).

In my song choices for this blog I haven't focused on Sarah Palin, but when I was planning my final video blog before Election Day, something clicked and I knew I had to play this song. "Jackaro" tells the story of a young woman who goes to great lengths to marry the man she wants to.

It's about a woman's right to self-determination - a right which is always under attack, a situation which would be made even worse in a McCain-Palin administration. If you've heard Palin's backward views on abortion (anti-abortion in all cases including rape and incest) and McCain's dismissal of the "health of the mother" argument, then you know what I'm talking about.

This is the eleventh video in a blog featuring political songs, and the last video in this blog before Election day in the United States.
