EidosTV is a project of the Eidos Institute in Australia. EidosTV has been created to bring ideas to a global audience.
About Me:

In the world of today, good research, enlightened policy and funding could be much better connected. Alot of people think that policy and research have never been further apart. Policy doesn't rely on research. In fact sometimes it is brought in after the decision has been made. However, Eidos thinks that sometimes we have a single powerful idea, a great insight as the tipping point for social and economic change. The key to success is the shared and connected values between policy and research.

Influence is natural, when you connect the best minds.

Collaboration, effectiveness, legitimacy. Making the road by walking. This is what Eidos is all about.

Eidos has a hunch that research and ideas could be more influential in making the world a better place. It's simple. Rather than lots of individuals working separately in their own individual rooms in their own individual universities and their own individual government offices. Rather than research and policy projects being scattered, freestanding and unconnected. Rather than 1000 flowers: Two or three flowers. Coordinated bodies of work. Connected minds.
Influence is natural, when you connect the best minds.

To understand Eidos you need to know a little bit about research and policy work. Researchers often find it hard to influence policy. Policy makers sometimes find it hard to ask the right questions. Both don't always have the time or opportunity, the capacity or awareness to partner, to respond and put up ideas, the capacity or awareness. Influence is limited. We risk losing our best minds or end up focusing on narrow, short-term, niche areas of research and of policy. Funding agencies unwittingly encourage and reward slick marketing rather than engaging the best minds. In the end research gathers dust, policy connections and access remain weak. And ill defined.

No single university or agency can easily harness the resources to address these gaps.

What needs to change? Research capability, policy influence, funding access working collectively for a better world. This is Eidos.

Researchers and policy-makers are always shifting. Policy needs to be turned around quicker and quicker. Eidos has built a real-time database driven website. It quickly assembles teams and aligns to key priorities and requests.

Welcome to a world where collaboration rules, effectiveness is easy, and legitimacy is in reach. It didn't exist few years ago, but now there are more than 300 public and private researchers, policy-leaders and thinkers and about 50 leading research and policy institutes collaborating together.

So join Eidos, and be a part of collectively forecasting, leading and responding to our local and global challenges.
