We introduced the YouTube 3D Video Creator to simplify the task of creating 3D videos. Using two side-by-side video cameras, you could record a video and use the creator to make it into your own 3D video.

We launched this tool at a time when 3D cameras were few and far between.

Now, more devices are equipped with a 3D camera. We've also been working hard to make the process of creating 3D videos on YouTube even easier for you, such as by detecting 3D metadata in a video file upon upload. The YouTube 3D Creator was a great first step towards 3D creation on YouTube. To allow us to focus on newer 3D features, we will be shutting down the YouTube 3D Video Creator.
