You can download many MIDI files on the net. But getting them to sound right is sometimes a problem. Here I show how to play back a MIDI file and re-map the sounds in Sonar 7 using the TTS -1 soft synth.

Fun with MIDI part 1 of 4 dustypuppy - 13,970 views - 2 years ago
This is part 1 of a 4 part series. It is a demo of making a midi file. I import a Steely Dan song into Sonar then begin creating a midi file, using the original as a pattern. During this series I make a drum line, then guitar, bass, piano and brass. I am 50 years of age and have enjoyed working with MIDI since it began in the early 1980's.

Original music with backup
About Me: I am a piano technician. I tune and repair pianos. I love music and my family and enjoy spending time with my 3 grandsons.

THE BRIDGE BUILDER

An old man, going down a lone highway
Came at the evening, cold and gray,
To a chasm vast and wide and steep,
With waters rolling cold and deep.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fears for him.
But he turned when safe on the other side,
And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near,
"You are wasting your strength with
building here.
Your journey will end with the ending day,
You never again will pass this way.
You've crossed the chasm, deep and wide,
Why build you this bridge at eventide?"

The builder lifted his old gray head.
"Good friend, in the path I have come,"
he said,
"There followeth after me today
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
The chasm that was as naught to me
To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be;
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim --
Good friend, I am building this bridge
for him."

Hey Dusty, I have sonar 6 and i can't figure out how panning works. everything i do stays to the left so when i pan all the way right it's only silence. could you please make a video on how to do this. Thanks for the help.
bluecafe69 (1 month ago)
Hey "Dustypuppy!"

I'm curious if you can make a video demonstrating how to "Bounce" MIDI tracks into audio. I understand that this is the easiest method for converting MIDI to audio in Sonar. However, whenever I try this method I am unable to get any sound and the audio clip doesn't include any waveform, online a flat line.

well i just started with sonar and computer recording. Im having a hard time with midi and soft synths so I'll be here a lot.
