About Me:

Jean-Pierre Rasle has been at the forefront of pipe playing in Britain for many years, exploring innovative ways of developing the French versions of the instrument and its repertoire:

He has encompassed folk-rock with the Albion Band, prog-folk ceilidhs with his own classic band of 30 years' standing, Cock and Bull, French chanson as an internationally touring duo with Gabriel Yacoub, folk-baroque with a string of Early music groups, including the Palladian Ensemble, Monica Hugget's Ensemble Sonnerie, Ex-Cathedra, and his own ensemble Jean de La Mer, in which he presents the results of his research into the baroque repertoire for pipes great and small.

After joining the ambient-trance-reggae-world of post-punk bass player Jah Wobble as a member of his Invaders of the Heart, Deep Space and English Roots Band outfits over 10 years and more than 20 recordings, and a foray into new jazz with Alec Dankworth Quintet, he now concentrates on composing for the instrument with the acoustic new-folk of Monsieur Pantin, his own recent theatrical ensemble, The Dancing Drones, and his folk-improv. and contemporary outfits, Parallèles and Tractatus.

His recording career spans all the above mentioned groups, as well as specially commissioned programmes for the BBC World Service, Radio 3 and 4, and music for film and television.

He is also active as a Musical Director/producer for theatre and special events and as an arranger/writer. As a researcher/publisher, he specialises in French and English Folk, Popular , Contemporary and Early music for drone instruments.

I hope you finish your Wittgenstein project. Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent. I wonder what W. would think about the attempt to apply music in a logical sense to his propositions? Not representation of facts but still interesting nonsense I suppose.

Jean-Pierre,

you recently sent me a message about MP3 versions of Cock and Bull songs. I tried to send a reply to you but I wasn't able to as you have a lock on messages except from friends. IF you except the friend request then I'll be able to reply in full to that message,

all the best,

John
