About Me:
Don Buckley was elected to the LLLI Board of Directors in 2006 from Zone EUS. His wife Susan has been involved in LLL for nearly three decades, during which Don has been an engaged LLL Dad. Together they have two adult children and are grandparents of one very cool grandson.
Don brings to the Board the research skills of a scientist, a biologist's interest in breastfeeding, an educational technologist's experience in communication infrastructure, a teacher's fascination with the cognition of learning, an administrator's engagement with the social psychology of institutional change processes, and a passion for the wonderful community that is La Leche League.
Dr. Buckley is a Professor of Biology and Director of Learning Technology for the School of Health Sciences at Quinnipiac University. He earned his BS and MS at University of Massachusetts - Amherst, his PhD from Ohio University, was a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard, and became a tenured faculty member at the University of Hartford before moving to Quinnipiac University in 1999. He is a geneticist and evolutionary biologist, with strong interests in the cognition of learning and learning technology. Don's study of evolution has taken him to Costa Rica and Sri Lanka to study the mating systems of tropical trees. He has received four international awards for his teaching, and learning software that he has authored is archived in the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of American History as part of its international record of our transition to the Information Age.
