Name: Shireen
Shireen is the founder and Executive Director of Digital Sisters/Sistas, Inc. a non-profit organization focused on using digital media and technology to access self-sufficiency tools for women and children who are traditionally underserved. Shireen is a graduate of the University of the District of Columbia and continues to advance her education specializing in Human-Computer Interactions.

Shireen has twenty years of technology, human services, and non profit experience. She has combined information and communication technologies (ICT) with policy, advocacy, and education to support women, seniors, youth, and individuals with disabilities. Shireen leads the organization in providing community advocacy and education for schools, technology centers, and workforce development programs, as well as other ongoing digital and social media initiatives.

Shireen is also president of the Board of Directors of Community Technology Centers' Network (CTCNet), a national affiliation of initiatives and organizations around the country which collectively promote effective technology integration for the social, civic, and economic security into the lives of low-income communities.

Shireen works to promote equity and access for women as the Chair of the Media and Technology Taskforce of the National Council of Women's Organizations (NCWO). She is also the Vice Chair and the youngest Executive Committee member in the history of the organization. She has served as the Younger Women's Taskforce Co-Chair. Addressing issues from Imus to Thomas, Shireen is a member of the Women's Coalition for Dignity and Diversity in the Media.

As an author she has written "Gaining Daily Access to Science and Technology" in the book 50 Ways to Improve Women's Lives and "Access to Technology: Race, Gender, Class Bias" in the publication The Scholar and Feminist Online. Shireen has written articles including "What Does Tech Have to Do with Women's Rights" and continues to blog about women, tech, policy, and media issues.

Shireen speaks on topics about the impact of technology on communities across the country, appearing on radio shows such as NPR's Tavis Smiley, "Digital Gap Among Minority Children," and presenting on various topics including "How Technology Savvy Secures Economic Stability."

She has been awarded "Heroine in Technology," "Community Technology Leader" and a "Young Woman of Achievement".

Shireen was born and raised in the projects of New York City, playing video games before they could be played on televisions and designing BBS boards prior to the Web going world wide. Shireen and her family currently reside in Washington DC, a city engrossed in government and politics.

Don't know why you felt the need to send that comment to me, feel free to post on one of the videos that you are referring to. That generalization is a problem that you have to recognize within yourself. If you don't see the problem I can't help you.

Personally, I feel that Latin/Asian women are better than black women. I am a black man who is comfortable and content with himself. However, I feel that black women devalue themselves. For that reason society devalues them as well. This is a huge generalization and I'm sure not all black women are like this. I feel that some black women need to do some serious soul-searching. Redbone blacks are the best!
