Footage from the
Digital Media Literacy Summit 2007
Organised and funded by
The Media Literacy Task Force
'WORKING FOR A MEDIA LITERATE UK'
There are extraordinary changes taking place in how we create, consume and talk about media content. This requires the media industries, policy makers and educators to think afresh about how we can ensure that the public is able to access the social skills, experiences and cultural competencies fully to participate in, and make sense of, a landscape characterised by a riptide of innovation.
This Digital Media Literacy Summit provided a unique opportunity to explore such challenges with input from leading thinkers and practitioners from across the UK and further afield. In particular, the emergence of new participatory cultures is creating a whole series of new challenges to accepted thinking about media literacy as the focus moves from one of individual expression to one of community involvement.
