nonsense! if the toss was more horizontal than vertical, the angle formed would less than 45 degrees, and the angle was more like 70 degrees. certainly, there was some horizontal component to the toss, but it didn't strike me as egregiously horizontal. indeed, it looked "mostly vertical" to me...

i don't know how it is for the person who has the pips, but playing against pips is MUCH different than playing against inverted. long pips reverses whatever you give them...so if you give them a heavy topspin loop, you are gonna get back a heavy underspin ball. it is very weird to play against...
