Police say there were approximately 550 demonstrators, while the Muslims themselves claim over 1,000 participated, among them a Christian priest and three left-wing politicians, all ethnic Swedes, one of them a member of Parliament and another one a Communist. According to the Uppsala Mosque, an ethnic Swede converted to Islam outside the newspaper building after the demonstration.
The Muslims were shouting things such as "respect Islam", "respect our Prophet" and "respect Muhammad", their posters saying "Stop desecrating our Prophet", "Rights + Freedom = Islam", "Freedom of the press or freedom of suppression", "Don't kick someone when they're down" (a typical Swedish left-wing catchword) and "We demand religious freedom" (which Sweden already has since 1951).
