About Me:
n an era where the lone iconic Emcee/rockstar and high profile one shot collaborations have become the norm in the hip-hop and pop worlds, inner-city Oakland, California's greatest secret remains one of the worlds last great rap groups: Delinquent Monastery. DelMon Crew, as they are affectionately known to their growing legion of devout fans, is the dynamic trio of Plex Rock, Ajaxx, and Lush One- three unique personalities who gel with a seamless cohesion stylistically, vocally, and aesthetically to create an amazing listening and viewing experience. Drawing from a diverse pallet of sonic influences ranging from Califronia Funk, Southern bounce, boombap, and 80s rock DelMon combine cutting edge lyricism and with a larger then life sound which is guaranteed success in clubs, bars, and lounges- but absolutely flourishes in a full scale arenas and stadiums. While many rap groups have music which appeals to a specific demographic and are known for sloppy amateurish performances, DelMon has been evolving their stage show for over five years of an intense touring schedule (including a stint on the Vans Warped Tour) and has music that can appeal to anyone. The spirited and unhinged energy as well as technical precision of their movement-heavy live performances are enough to win over the most cynical critics of hip-hop. Their sound is constantly growing and staying ahead of the creative curve but is rooted in the intriguing back and forth interactions and anthem-like hooks reminiscent of classic hit-makers Run DMC and The Beastie Boys with a more urban street edge and updated/advanced lyrics and production. Combine that with the racially diverse and stylistically distinct background of these super emcees which makes DelMon quite the visual spectacle and you have guaranteed star power. Many music publications and magazines such as URB have taken notice of the boys giving them a spot in their highly influential 'NEXT 100' artists to rise. International cable tv network CURRENT TV had a highly rated documentary on Bay Area music which prominently featured DelMon as well. With the exponential advancement of digital technology and and a climate in the music industry which is tumultuous and uncertain at best, artists are being forced to embark on creative and progressive marketing strategies in order to maintain relevance in a world oversaturated with media. DelMon is at the forefront of these tactics and consistently finds new clever ways to brand themselves. They have worked with many of the industries elite artists and producers all based on their strong buzz which started in Northern California and spread worldwide (and it didn't hurt that Lush One was a finalist in the $50,000 2007 World Rap Championships and 'most valuable rapper' nominee and Ajaxx appeared as an actor in a sketch on The Conan O'Brien Show). With a plethora of self-produced projects about to be released and over 12,000 units moved DIY independently in the past year (despite heavy bootlegging and no label support), DelMon is continuing to solidify their self-made niche in the game as perhaps on the most important young musical acts to emerge this century. Don't miss out.
