out here in the fields blue skies have become scarce in favor of white with soft hues of grey whisped across it. green fields of corn and beans turned golden and now hauled away and turned under leaving nothing but rotting stalks and a vast wasteland. the grasses stubbornly hold onto their green while they can. warm breezes have given way to harsh cold wind. heaven and earth meet at a foggy grey horizon and the birds fly without joy but with purpose. we now find solace and comfort within the walls that we could not wait to escape from a few months ago. and as we look out of frosted windows we see barren trees with their last leaves strewn about below them, shriveling and decaying.
