Join us as the Sacramento Ballet celebrates the 500th performance of Ron Cunningham's dazzling production of The Nutcracker!
The magic and wonder of Sacramento's most cherished holiday tradition returns to create memories to last families a lifetime. Over 200 costumed characters enthrall the audience to the majestic Tchaikovsky score played superbly by the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra. Magnificant dancing, sumptuous scenery, and spectacular choreography combine in festive celebration. A beloved community treasure, Ron Cunningham's production includes nearly 500 children, from Teeny Tiny Mice to swirling Candy Canes, making it the largest cast of children in any Nutcracker in the world.
The Nutcracker just got 3 times as exciting with 3 Ballerinas sharing the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy on Opening Night (the 500th Performance) on December 11th and Nutcracker Sweet Sunday on December 13th. For both of these performances, Melissa Sandvig, Ballerina from So You Think You Can Dance, will make a special guest appearance along with current Sacramento Ballet Ballerina, Amanda Peet, and former Sacramento Ballet Ballerina, Nina Baratova.
Following the Sweet Sunday performance on December 13th, enjoy juice and cookies, and mix and mingle with characters from the ballet. Included with the ticket purchase of this very special performance of Nutcracker Sweet Sunday, guests will have the opportunity to take their picture with characters from the ballet and actually walk on stage into the Land of the Sweets. A drawing will also be held with special Nutcracker prizes.
