Christians believe that Yahweh, their god, sent himself (definitely a "he" as his loins are described in Ez 1:27) down to earth (Jesus and Yahweh are the same being according to the trinity) to sacrifice himself to himself (Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins) because bleeding on a cross was the only way he could convince himself to forgive us (without the sacrifice on the cross, there could be no forgiveness) for the fact that an ancestor of ours made from a rib (Eve) ate a magic fruit after being tricked by a talking snake (Genesis chapter 3). Those who don't believe this will be tortured forever and ever by the god that loves us.
