Hi, Cruxay. My name is Jonathan and I am from Maine. I lived in Tokyo from 1993-1995, Okinawa from 1995-1998, and Tokyo again from 2001-2003. I lived in Akiruno (formerly Akigawa) near Okutama and Ginowan in Okinawa. The place that reminded me the most of home was Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture. Absolutely gorgeous. At the timeI was living there I was a medic in the Air Force. I, too, have a deep love and respect for Japan, the culture, and the people and I hope you continue to make postings such as these--they are really great and make me feel all fuzzy with nostalgia. You may not be the first one to do what you are doing, but you should be praised for how well you are documenting things. Nihedibiru!

Just curious (I wandered onto your site from a Japanese Radiohead fan's comments), how did you get interested in Japan? My best friend from grad school was Korean and I developed an interest in all things Asian from her. (I am an American of mostly Eastern European descent). She introduced me to all kinds of foods and things she got from home and laughed at me when I gagged on bean desserts and dried fish! LOL! I liked eveything else, though...

More recently, I got into martial arts (again Korean, didn;t plan it, just happened).

I haven't gotten to visit any asian counties yet, but someday I will. :)
