This is "The Starlight", the second of my three pictures drawn from Dickens' book.
The action takes place in an english coal mine, around 1850.
The baritone is Stephen Blackpool, a workman who accidentally fell into a dismissed pit.
He is found alive (but dying) after three days, by his woman Rachel, and these are his last words.
