She entered the convent at 14, stayed 25 years, and now looks back to discover her true motivation. She left the convent at age 40, married and divorced after 20 years.
What she realizes is that the vow of poverty is not about denial of material wealth but detached appreciation of material things. The vow of celibacy is not about denial of sex but complete focus on the needs and potential of others. Finally, the vow of obedience is not about denial of one's own will but listening for the voice of God however it appears in our lives.
