In 2004 a Chicago cafe hosted a short film competition in which teams of film makers were given the phrase, "Will you do me a favor?" and a "theme" picked out of a hat. Then the teams were given 48 hours to write, shoot, edit, and deliver their projects.

Rubber Monkey wandered into the competition on the last day and with only six hours left until deadline, drew the theme, "hunger" from the hat.

Using just a box of crayons, a flatbed scanner, and a trash-picked Macintosh G3, a cartoon was assembled starring the first two images that came into the animator's head - a giraffe and a bucket.

Since then, Giraffe & Bucket have made more cartoons, have been made into t-shirts, and have been featured on "The Night Show" in Chicago. (less info)
