About Me:

I am a 39 year old artist who has endured a long journey of stuggles and the "school of hard knocks" to become an artist. I do work professionally, but probably not at some of the stuff that some people assume I do. I never went to college or anything beyond High School, and didn't really get a clear direction on where I was going as an artist until I was 30. Before that, it was ups and downs in my cocky 20's doing all kinds of stuff to barely squeak by as your traditional "starving artist".

My main profession is mainstream commercial art. That means anything under the sun for commercial industry where art and concept (sometimes animation) is needed. Most of the work comes from advertising agencies. I have a tremendous love for sci-fi and fantasy (as most of my vids here show) but have not made any strong move toward any industry that specializes in that genre. Only recently have I decided to start making my move in that direction. I once had a decent start in the form of the comics industry over a decade ago, but that was during a time when I was in my mid twenties, foolishly brave and arrogant, thinking I could conquer the world with my art. I was quickly slapped back down and humbled by some failures that blended with personal life tragedy. (I have just recently returned to the comics industry in a more modest mode).

I stand today as completely different person who is very thankful for any form of work that I get, and rather enjoy other people's art more than my own. In the nineties I thought everything I did was superior and coming out great. I look at it now and a lot of it was CRAP. So the only conclusion I can have there is that I don't have any vision on how good or bad my art is. To even think in that direction instantly blinds me... I can only try to put as much passion into it as I can, gage by people's reactions to how it is perceived. But art is a lot more fun for me now. I truly enjoy the inspiration and challenge of creating (and getting immersed into) the detail of a whole other world of color and depth of a piece. And I LOVE other artist's work. Deviantart is great. It's so fun to see others' work as it so inspires me in my own.

A lot of what you see here is me being me. This page is by no means a portfolio showing the best of what I can do. I am just creating art for the sake of doodling, practice, or just plain escapism. There has been a tremendous outpouring of praise and positive feedback on my work, and I think all of you for that. There is also TONS of questions and emails from other artists who are beginners, or have questions about digital art, etc.

I wish I could answer them all, but please understand I may not ever get around to replying to some of your comments/questions. I try to when I can, but usually the best way to get my attention is by direct email, or more effectively (if you are an artist) join deviantart where you can display your passions and comment on my pages there... That closes the environment around us a little more. (It's like you're in a noisy convention hall, and you step into a different quiet exhibit room for a more candid discussion.)

Anyway-- I hope you enjoy the vids. I enjoy making them.

I absolutely love all of your artwork, truly amazing. Following with the fantasy setting, have you ever thought of a Knight? maybe just a portrait of a Knight atop an armored warhorse with the banner of a king? or a Knight fighting a particularly deadly looking dragon? (even as cliche as that is, it's still pretty awesome)

Hey i noticed that you haven't drawn a Grim reaper before. (at least on youtube)
it would be really cool if you would! :D or even two dragons fighting, but a grim reaper is cooler.
