The Norwegian singer Cecilia, who also appeared on Show # 130 with Claire Heartsong and Show # 131 with Morning, is renowned for her crystal clear voice. She grew up North of the Arctic Circle, where the people have to cope with 3 months of darkness during the winter. They have learned to bring light into darkness. Cecilia's astonishingly beautiful voice has often been requested, and never more so than now after the terrorist attacks in the USA.
Cecilia's unique voice reaches 3 octaves, singing everything from pop to classical. She has 6 years of classical training from conservatories in Norway, Denmark and Germany. Instead of continuing the classical way, an unfulfilled dream came through. Cecilia started to train with a singing teacher in New York, Oren Brown, who was renowned for finding a singer's natural voice rather than trying to shape their voice.
Cecilia started her career in 1994 singing for 5,000 people in Sydney, Australia. Her first album, "Voice of the Feminine Spirit", went gold there, selling more than 50,000 copies. This album has so far sold 200,000 copies with almost no marketing. This album includes her famous rendition of "Amazing Grace".
Cecilia did promotion in Japan, and toured countries like England, Germany, Sweden, Finland and the USA, including Hawaii. She performed at the Universal Wisdom Foundation event with Al Di Meola at Miami arena in March 1998, singing for 6,000 people, who gave an incredible response to her crystal clear and beautiful voice. Another big event was singing at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
During the summer of 1999 Cecilia moved to Los Angeles. She signed an agreement with Northern Light Music to develop her music. While working on her music, Cecilia gave concerts in the USA. Cecilia opened the new millennium by singing at the Deepak Chopra Millennium event, where also his Holiness the Dalai Lama gave a speech.
In 2001 Northern Light Music released her Christmas album "Let There Be Peace On Earth". In February 2002 came a new single "My Beloved", which was co-written by Cecilia.
Children and animals are close to Cecilia's heart, and she is happy to be able to help non-profit organizations in their work. She supports Plan International, and sponsors a child in Nepal. Cecilia lost her mother to cancer, and she wants to support the work to battle the disease. Cecilia was singing at the biggest ballroom in the US, Roseland in New York, for the benefit of the Linda McCartney Cancer Foundation.
Cecilia sung at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City; including a concert for Nu Skin at the World of Ice, performed on the Norwegian National TV (NRK), for the King of Norway, and also for the Crown prince and Crown princess. NRK made a music video of "My Beloved" at the top of the Olympic Mountains.
In April 2002, Cecilia moved from Los Angeles to New York, and continued to work on her style and new songs with Art Labriola, who was asked by Warner and David Foster to produce a mainstream radio mix for Josh Groban. Cecilia also got a new singing teacher, Dr. William Riley, who is also the singing teacher for Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Faith Hill.
Cecilia's music has been used in TV series, documentaries, and videos in America and Asia, and on compilation albums worldwide. In 2003 a "Best of Cecilia" album was released in Greece, and her album "Let There Be Peace On Earth" was released in Korea.
In January 2006 Cecilia's new album "The Healing Voice" was released.

"SIMPLY MARVELOUS" - Geoffrey Holder A rare performance and glimpse into the "life and philosophy" of this multi-talented celebrity.
Immediately recognizable as the 7-Up, "Uncola man", his distinctive bass voice, heavy accent and hearty laugh are legendary. This is a clip from his "nightclub act" that was filmed at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, New York City. Geoffrey is 6 foot 6 inches tall and shaved his head long before it was cool.
Geoffrey won the 1975 Tony Award for Best Director of a Musical for, "The Wiz" (1975), the all-African American retelling of "The Wizard of Oz". That same year he was also awarded the Tony for best costume design and was nominated again for the original 1978 Broadway musical "Timbuktu!", which he also directed and choreographed. As a choreographer, he has created dance pieces for many companies, including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and The Dance Theatre of Harlem.
Painter, director, set and costume designer, choreographer, dancer, actor, musician and showman; Geoffrey Holder is both colleague and friend to many, many international celebrities: Alvin Ailey, Woody Allen / Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask), Harold Arlen /House of Flowers, Charles Aznavour, George Balanchine / House of Flowers, Pearl Bailey / House of Flowers, Josephine Baker / Josephine Baker and Her Company, Tony Bennett, Ray Bolger/ Tony Award Presenter, Jacques Brel, Truman Capote / House of Flowers, Diahann Carroll / House of Flowers, Carol Channing / costumes, Noel Coward / Androcles and the Lion, Bette Davis, Johnny Depp / Charlie and the Chocolate Factory / Reader, Marlene Dietrich, Duke Ellington, Ian Fleming / Live or Let Die, Joao Gilberto Amoroso / Brasil / cover, James Earl Jones / Swashbuckler, Grace Jones / Boomerang, Martha Graham, Rex Harrison / Doctor Dolittle as William Shakespeare the Tenth, Helen Hays, Lena Horne / portrait, John Huston / Annie as Punjab, Michael Jackson, Brian Keith, Eartha Kitt / Boomerang / Timbuktu / Director, Claude Lelouch / Hasards of Coincidences, Stephanie Mills / The Wiz/director, Sal Mineo / Aladdin, Arthur Mitchell / Dance Theatre of Harlem, Ricardo Montalban / portrait, Melba Moore /Timbuktu, Roger Moore / James Bond / Live or Let Die / actor / choreographer, Eddie Murphy / Boomerang, Odetta, Anthony Perkins / portrait, Sidney Poitier, Herbert Ross / House of Flowers / Doctor Dolittle, Maximillan Schell, Jane Seymour / Live or Let Die, Bobby Short, Nina Simone, Charlie Smalls, Sharon Stone / Inspired her to "leave home and go into the business", Gloria Swanson and the list goes on... Geoffrey performed, "Under The Sea" from "The Little Mermaid" at the 62nd Academy Awards (1990 Oscars).
Much like his longtime friend Bill Cosby, Geoffrey is both teacher and "Renaissance Man". When he commands the audience to "STAND UP, UP, UP, UP!" and then insists that everyone "PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE" to GOD, THE FATHER ALMIGHTY, THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, to JESUS, MOSES, BUDDAH AND ALLAH... He is "More Evangelist than Showman". Geoffrey burns with THEOSOPHY and UNIVERSAL LOVE.
Born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Geoffrey came to New York City in 1952. Holder married dancer, choreographer and actress, Carmine DeLavallade in June of 1955. They met when they were both were in the Broadway cast of "Flower Drum Song". They live happily in New York City and have one son, Leo Anthony Lamont.
EVERYONE IS ALWAYS DELIGHTED TO SEE GEOFFREY HOLDER!!!
I first met Geoffrey in 1975 at a very crowded gallery opening of his work somewhere on Madison Avenue in NYC. Those were the days when video cameras had very bright lights. During the entire event that camera followed Geoffrey (who was the tallest person in the room) everywhere. I sensed his shyness and wondered if he needed a break. I asked him if he would like to sit and chat. Relieved, to be out of the spotlight, he said, "I'D LIKE THAT", and we became immediate friends. Geoffrey was, FAMOUS AT STUDIO 54. With his height, you could recognize him from anywhere in the room and everyone loved him. Today, whenever I'm out in the city with Geoffrey total strangers come up and give him a hug. It's a little startling, especially for him. I'm 5'10" and they always ask if I'm his bodyguard. I've gotten used to it; after all, they're just trying to get HIS attention.
He's is a wonderful and special man, mentor and a really inspirational friend. When you're with Geoffrey, one minute you're walking down Broadway and suddenly find yourself, "SKIPPING ON DOWN, THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD." AMAZING!!! Surprised, well yeah, but after all he is the man who created and directed The Broadway Musical, "THE WIZ". I'm sure you'll agree Geoffrey Holder is "MARVELOUS, ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS... HA, HA, HA, HA!"
Thank you for watching. Sincerely, Richard Currier
