Petrushka: Andris Liepa; The Ballerina: Tatiana Beletskaya; The Moor: Gedminas Taranda; Magician: Sergey Petukhov; Devil: Vitaly Breusenko

****************

(min. 3:50) The curtain of the Magician's booth moves as though someone were trying to get out. Finally, the frightened Petrushka emerges with the Moor chasing him. The Moor kills Petrushka, but the Magician appears and explains to the appalled crowd that what they have witnessed was the death of a puppet, nothing more. He shows them Petrushka's body, filled with sawdust. Everyone leaves. A sudden scream breaks the silence. Petrushka appears in the moonlight on the roof of the booth and shakes his fist at his tormentors.

It was time to get a few jazz chords out of the church's pipe organ. Mainly played with a String Celeste and Octave 4', this may well get a disapproving look or a raised eyebrow or two if played for an offertory in a service... ;o)

"The Golden Age"(from the Bolshoi Theater)

Time and place of action: seaside town in the south of Russia; the 1920s. This was the period of the New Economic Policy (NEP) which allowed private enterprise and trade and, as a result, shady operators and petty criminals flourished. The Golden Age Restaurant is their favorite haunt - here a young dancer, Rita, who appears under the name of Mademoiselle Margot, and her partner, Jacques, in point of fact Yashka, leader of a local gang of bandits, entertain a mixed public of "fast livers". Helping Yashka with his 'jobs' are his bandit cronies and his friend, Lyuska.
During the town festival and general rejoicing Boris, a young fisherman, member of the satirical agitprop theatre for working youths, meets Rita. They begin to fall in love. But, suddenly, Rita disappears into the crowd, Boris rushes after her. Boris's search brings him to The Golden Age Restaurant. To his astonishment, he recognizes the dancing Mademoiselle Margot to be Rita, the girl he is looking for.
Boris and Yashka fight over Rita. She is attracted by both young men, by the sincerity and depth of their feelings for her. Boris's young fishermen friends start a brawl with members of the gang of bandits. Yashka tries to make a run for it, but he is caught. Rita is free: leaving the restaurant forever, she goes off with her beloved Boris to start a new life.

The scene changes to Petrushka's cell-like room. The Magician-showman pushes Petrushka through the door. Petrushka weeps. Suddenly the Ballerina appears, and Petrushka dances in delight. Unable to comprehend his joy, the Ballerina retreats in fear. Petrushka is again left alone.
The scene changes to the Moor's room, with exotic drawings on the walls. The Moor lies on the sofa, playing indolently with a large coconut. The door opens and the Ballerina walks in.

Dear Irene. First of all i must thank you warmly for uploading ancient greek musical pieces. When i heard "Akousate" be it not real ancient greek music or be it just a non-complete recreation of the original i was simply blown off. Especially after 2:42. First of all I'd like u to tell me where u found the track. Can u answer me, if you possibly know on what knowledge basis was "Akousate" recreated. Is it just a modern composition being based on certain musical cannotations of ancient greek music or is it a recreated( if so, fully?) form of an original ancient piece? Do u have any links of either web places showing/ talking about ancient greek scriptures on music( or the scripture of the piece "akousate" ofc) or generally giving further information on ancient greek music? Thx in advance :)

Hello again :)

And also from here I would like to say: welcome, Irene!
I am dutch, but I love Greece, and I love Spain too. There is a playlist in my channel with "Spain", and "Dances" ... I love Flamenco, Farruca, Tango Nuevo, and... yes, classical dance, contemporary dance, jazz-ballet, latin dances, Russian Waltz, folk dances, so: Greek folkdances!

Welcome in my Greek channel! I saw Lynkeas in your frind list. He makes beautiful videos!
About Greece. :)

By the way: my son was with his bike in Spain, and went from Zaragozza to Granada, Sevilla, Madrid, all 2500 kilometres with his bike! he loves your country, Paco di Lucia (my son is a maser of music too), and the Spanish people.... :)
Have a nice day!
