i've seen cecchele first in the "cavalleria rusticana" movie opera, and i remember i was sure it was gedda, because i thought : "it is not possible that i dont know this great tenore! looks like gedda".
i coudn"t immagne that it can be sombody unknown...
and then i looked on the titles and saw the name cecchele. i began searching him everywere. and couldnt find, even on the italian wikipedia his name non exist!
so- thank you for cecchele! where have you got all the operas with him?
and another question:- if you know his biography- why wasn't he one of the moste famose tenors? why his name was forgotten?!

I think I was at this concert or one that was around the same time. It was at the Garden State Arts Center, now known as the PNC Arts Center. The coductor is Alfredo Silipigni who was head of the NJ State Opera. He died a few years ago. He played piano for the encores. I remember a woman screamed "Franco baby!" during the concert. I couldn't believe it when the concert was scheduled because he hadn't performed at the Met or any place else for a few years. He still had it. He sang the last scene form Otello which blew everybody's mind. Do you have that clip?
