Paper Mario Side Scrolls - "Fountain Pen Mountain" BowieZ - 1,582 views - 2 weeks ago
(HD link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =_FwKt6qLTwk&fmt=18 )

TURN UP YOUR BASSES AND SUBS, PEOPLE! *winks*

"Paper Mario Side Scrolls" is my imagined 4th Paper Mario adventure! It's a side-scrolling adventure that literally takes place ON a paper scroll, appropriately enough. Mario is drawn ONTO the page while the action leaps off the page!

It's a story of 8 mystical 'side scrolls' that once told an important story but have suddenly been wiped blank by an unknown force... Mario in full 3D uncovers the documents and uses Toadsworth's magic to jump into the first scroll... and the action literally unravels in front of him.

Mario is given a set of art tools (including pencil-and-eraser, paintbrush, scissors, pen, paintballs, glue, origami skills etc) that help him navigate through the unfolding story in dynamic ways, such as cutting up a piece of the scroll and gluing the strip from one scroll to another acting as a pathway. All of this would be done using Wii Motion Plus controls.

Fountain Pen Mountain is the fourth chapter, on the fourth scroll, and is where Mario uncovers the pen tool. I added visuals from Crag in Super Paper Mario purely cos they seemed the most relevant. It's a shame I couldn't get a music-free version so that the sound effects would come through. Ohwell. Hope you all enjoy :)

PS To all my loyal subscribers, thanks for being patient! Been studying my Masters in Creative Industries (Music and Sound major) degree this year (at Queensland University of Technology) so it's divided my time and resources... cheers :)

The Legend of Zelda: Shadow Immortal - "Scrubs Markets" Theme BowieZ - 1,938 views - 4 months ago
Welcome to "Shadow Immortal," a fictitious sequel in the Legend of Zelda series.

Hi-def link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =Q5sJGn9UXYE&fmt=18

In this game, a full-scale battle begins to unravel across Hyrule and rumor has it that a Shadow Zelda -- not Ganondorf -- is its root cause.

I will be presenting a few fanmade music themes for this game. The first is "Scrubs Markets," a jaunty ditty played during Link's visit to the garden marketplace where the Deku Scrubs and their Scrub counterparts come from all the lands over to sell all sorts of natural and scrub-made goodies.

Link has come here to buy some tools for battle and just may end up enlisting the help of the Scrubs themselves.

Please be kind, this was my first Zelda-esque music attempt. If you have any requests, or constructive comments, please drop a line! Also, you may notice a reference to a previous Zelda theme in the background. Can you hear which one? (Thanks Neo for ideas help!!)

If you like it, please subscribe. :P

Super Mario Galaxy 2: "Broiler Boiler Galaxy" BowieZ - 6,076 views - 5 months ago
Hi-def link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =l-qeZ0MPf8c&fmt=18

Whoaar!! Danger afoot! In this fictitious Super Mario Galaxy level, a giant fire-ridden cathedral full of deathtraps and dastardly eruptions provides no solace for this churchgoing Mario.

This theme is somewhat experimental, as it's in 5/8 time and prominently uses a church organ to fit the environment and underpin the aggressive action.

Depending on which section of the galaxy you are in (the lava-locked cathedral moat and external regions or inside the gothic walls), the music fades between the full orchestral version and the solo organ version.

Hope you like it!

Super Mario Galaxy 2: "Force of Mario (End Credits Suite)" BowieZ - 4,501 views - 5 months ago
Hi-def link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =AuoqKX06CkE&fmt=18

My version of the end credits music for Super Mario Galaxy, featuring the themes of "Bowser's Force Field" (major key, happy version), "Cloudy Caper Galaxy" (darker, more sinister sounding), "Planet Boo Galaxy" (more of an enjoyable lullaby on oboe), and of course "The Mushroom Galaxy" to finish (a faster 3/4 waltz sound this time).

See if you can pick out the themes! (Annotations will help!)

PLEASE SUBSCRIBE & COMMENT! This took WEEKS of hard work hahaha :-) Thanks to all my loyal subscribers and friends.

Street Fighter IV Theme (Fanmade) - "Chun Li's Theme" BowieZ - 3,868 views - 7 months ago
Move aside Mario (for the time being! ;p)

Thought it was about time to do something with a bit more of an Asian influence, so here is a FANMADE theme for the upcoming Street Fighter IV game!

It comprises a melody with a string ostinato that are played around and varied a bit, on top of lots of traditional ethnic percussion and a cool modern percussion break beat.

What ya think? ;) It's a bit retro as it should be IMHO, but also fully orchestrated and forward-looking.

Comments, nasty criticisms all welcome :p Take a listen to the HQ version 'cos YouTube doesn't do it justice, naturally:

New Super Mario Bros. 2: "Desert Theme" BowieZ - 38,483 views - 11 months ago
Ouch! Ah-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo! Hot-foot it across the punishing scorched sand lands of World 4 ("Whirled Whirled West") and World 7 ("Dry Canyon") of my imagined "New Super Mario Bros" sequel, subtitled "Secret of the Dry Guys"!

This music is the overworld theme that accompanies most of the desert-themed levels. Yoshi's percussion underscore again returns (at 1:00), which would play whenever Mario is riding him. In fact, Yoshi's essential to navigate the steaming hot geysers and quicksand parts of these levels, thanks to his trusty protective red boots.

Game storyline: In this game, I imagine that the Mario brothers discover that the events of the first NSMB were merely an experiment: Bowser has been toying with immortality, and his transfiguration into Dry Bowser has given him great hope that he will finally be able to thwart Mario by... outliving him!

And so, after hearing rumors that the ancient unknown Dry Guys -- hideous skeletal Shy Guys -- have knowledge of an antidote to Bowser's immortality, Mario begins his onward journey!

But what IS the ... secret of the Dry Guys?

New Super Mario Bros. 2: "Overworld" (Main Theme from NSMB2) BowieZ - 56,578 views - 11 months ago
Welcome to the grassy plains and hilly stretches of Mushroom Village and Yoshi Valley, the first two worlds of my own imagined "New Super Mario Bros" sequel, subtitled "Secret of the Dry Guys"!

This music is the main overworld theme that accompanies most of the levels in these first two worlds, and occasionally in later worlds. To compose it, I spent the past three weeks drawing inspiration from ALL of the Mario main overworld themes, and there are certainly bits and pieces that are inspired by the original New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 64, and of course Super Mario Bros. 1-3. But most importantly it definitely has my own touch, as it's a totally new theme with new ideas.

Yoshi's back! I decided to bring in some island percussion that plays whenever Mario is riding our helpful little green dino-dragon (1:40 onwards). Also note that the end of the melody (1:28-1:34) is a direct reference to the original Mario Bros. theme. Hope you like it!!

For those who are interested, in this game, I imagine that the Mario brothers discover that the events of the first NSMB were merely an experiment: Bowser has been toying with immortality, and his transfiguration into Dry Bowser has given him great hope that he will finally be able to thwart Mario by... outliving him!

And so, after hearing rumors that the ancient unknown Dry Guys -- hideous skeletal Shy Guys -- have knowledge of an antidote to Bowser's immortality, Mario begins his onward journey!

New Super Mario Bros. 2: "Underwater Theme" BowieZ - 29,400 views - 1 year ago
Welcome to the shimmery, watery depths of the "New Super Mario Bros" sequel, subtitled "Secret of the Dry Guys".

In this fictitious game, the Mario brothers discover that the events of the first NSMB were merely an experiment: Bowser has been toying with immortality, and his transfiguration into Dry Bowser has given him great hope that he will finally be able to thwart Mario by... outliving him!

And so, after hearing rumors that the ancient unknown Dry Guys -- hideous skeletal Shy Guys -- have knowledge of an antidote to Bowser's immortality, Mario begins his onward journey!

But what IS the ... secret of the Dry Guys?

This theme underscores Mario's submerged adventuring. Note the appearance of the very original Super Mario Bros underwater waltz, which plays underneath a harmonica rendition of my "Whirled Whirled West" theme.

Hope you like ^_^

New Super Mario Bros. 2: "Whirled Whirled West" (Overworld) BowieZ - 88,081 views - 1 year ago
Welcome to the Whirled Whirled West, the fourth world of a fictitious "New Super Mario Bros" sequel, subtitled "Secret of the Dry Guys".

In this game, the Mario brothers discover that the events of the first NSMB were merely an experiment: Bowser has been toying with immortality, and his transfiguration into Dry Bowser has given him great hope that he will finally be able to thwart Mario by... outliving him!

And so, after hearing rumors that the ancient unknown Dry Guys -- hideous skeletal Shy Guys -- have knowledge of an antidote to Bowser's immortality, Mario begins his onward journey!

But what IS the ... secret of the Dry Guys?

Taking place roughly halfway through the adventure, this piece would accompany Mario (and Luigi!) along a mildly challenging yet fun wild-west themed level, ravaged by dusty whirlwinds and host to the weapons-totin' Wild Guys who jump out from behind prickly cactuses guns a-blazin'.

I hope you like it! Thanks to Neo - again - for coming up with the basic story idea for this with me!

Mario Kart Wii New Fanfare: "Finish First & Race Results" BowieZ - 1,977 views - 1 year ago
Two new musical pieces have now been added to the fan-designed "Mario Kart Wii: Royal Prix" puzzle: a winner's fanfare (based on the main theme), and a cheery tune to accompany the victory lap and the tallying of the results.

Hope you like them both! XD

Mario Kart Wii New Theme: "Dry Castle" (Dry Bowser's Waltz) BowieZ - 43,333 views - 1 year ago
HQ link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =x1PB2bEE9fk&fmt=18

Sad. Evil. Bone-chilling.

Home to the third 'Pipe Cup' course of the fictitious fan-designed "Mario Kart Wii: Royal Prix" -- and the game's penultimate track -- Dry Castle is the creepy, sinister and neglected abode of Bowser's skeletal kin, Dry Bowser.

To depict Dry Castle and its groaning masterlord, I have conceived a rather experimental work: an epic rock waltz, in "3/4 time". This is not at all usual for Mario Kart music; every other Mario Kart music track in history has been in "4/4 time".

For those who have listened to my "Finale & End Credits" track, you may notice that this is indeed the same melody in a minor key. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =gwHk6jCfNwM to see how Dry Bowser's Waltz has been morphed into an uplifting finale theme!

The piece uses a mixture of guitar harmonics and Indian-inspired instrumentation to depict the ancient living-dead character of Dry Bowser, awash with its unrelenting spiralling arpeggiated accompaniment to suggest his internal insanity. Note the five heartbeats beginning at 0:48; these echo in Dry Bowser's wistful memory of the days he was "alive".
