One of the hardest things I have had to try to reconcile is the bibical teaching of love during war times. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that read, "when Jesus said love thy enemies I don't think he meant kill them".
As I sit in the comfort of my home I ponder (a) what it must be like for the soldiers in Iraq working with people who may have been responsible for killing fellow soldiers earlier in the war and (b) did the founding fathers envision using the military to enforce democracy internationally?
I travel the world and live in Central America. I was drafted in Viet Nam and retired from the US navy. Bush, Clinton, Gore and I are all war heros!!! I am not proud of my country. However , I don't live in fear, because I don't live in the US. anymore.
It is only because of the ignorance of the American public that the Multinational corporations can continue to buy Washington, D.C. Profit is the motive for all wars and Washington, D.C. has been bought and are prostitutes of the War mongers. All the while, the people of the US and other countries pay the price in lives and and loss of freedom. The penalty for treason is clearly discussed in the writings of the founders of our country. We simply need to enforce the Constitution.
