This happened in the 2008 AAA Georgia High School baseball championship game between Cartersville High School (batting) and Stephens County High School (fielding).

Cartersville went on to win the game 13-1 and the state championship.

Be sure to notice that several fans cheer the umpire getting hit and also sound their air horns. They were really upset with the umpires the inning before this happened. Very odd for a team that's still in the game, with a runner on base, and playing for the state championship.


No, they were not ejected. No instant replay available and no way to really prove, especially on the spot, that it was intentional.

Yeah, show the whole story.... which is how rowdy the Stephens County fans were, they were very rude throughout the series and then for them to do this to the umpire is really sad.... hey, but their good kids right! lol I am glad they got pounded in the ground!

A lot went on in this game before this even happend. If you are going to show one side of it, please show the other. This umpire has no business even being around kids in my opinion. And if he talked to my son the way he talked to several of the players, he wouldn't have had to worry about being hit by the pitcher.

What you are not saying is how the umpire cussed at these guys throughout the game. Both of these boys are good kids.
