Evening Standard 'journalist' Andrew Gilligan insisted on playing silly games instead of defending or denying the use of multiple false identities to defend/praise his own damn articles... so I took the fight to him and handed out free 'newspapers' in front of Northcliffe House, HQ for Associated Newspapers Ltd.

The stunt took place between 8:20am and 9:00am on Wednesday 26 Nov 2008, and I handed out roughly 180 copies of 'Ailing Standards', mostly to his colleagues entering the building.

(Shot the bloody thing at 16:9, but my editing software wouldn't have any of it. Next time, perhaps.)

The short version is that we did this so others might see and appreciate Guy Fawkes Night from a guy's point of view.

UPDATE: Yes, this is uncut footage from 20 seconds in until the moment the camera gives out. After flares of light, the camera takes a moment to adjust and catches the field of torch-bearing villagers dotting into the distance, and flames around the camera produce the illusion of scene changes, but it's not been edited in any way. It's just naturally pretty at times.

This is the first music video that I produced for broadcast.

Filmed in Pyrmont, it was made in early 1995 to be the official video for the D&S Remix of White Lines (Don't Do It) by Melle Mel and The Furious Five.

Last time I heard, it was still getting airplay on the all-night music video program Rage. (And if it's not, do ask for it... they'll have it in the library.)

Trivia: That's about 20 Australian dollars worth of icing sugar, just in case you're wondering. The puppets were built using an old stuffed polar bear and the arms from an atrocious cardigan. The location was decided by a total failure of a battery unit; we were forced to string a series of extension cords together and shoot the external footage in the alley behind the studio.
