Set up in 1962 as the Malta Ornithological Society, the organisation is now the Maltese partner of the BirdLife international network. BirdLife Malta is involved in several conservation initiatives on the ground, including the management of nature reserves, the re-creation of Mediterranean woodland, and the protection of wild birds.
