Short tutorial for the Taekwondo Stomp Kick and how to add extra power.
Quick tips:
1) Commit 100% when throwing the kick
2) If your opponent parry's your kick to the inside, exposing your back, follow up with a spinning elbow or spinning back fist strike with your rear hand. When your opponent parrys the stomp kick, he'll usually try and take advantage of you being off balance, and follow up immediately with punches. He usually assumes you're in no position to attack (because he knows you're off balance) And that's when he's likely to get caught by that follow-up spin elbow or spin backfist.
3) When you and your opponent are both in a normal stance (right leg back, or "closed stance"), the front leg stomp kick has less power but is less likely to be deflected off to the side of the opponent, the back leg stomp kick tends to be deflected off to the left of the opponent(opponents right side) if he is throwing a left hook or left roundhouse kick at the time of the attack. This is less likely to happen if you are fighting an opponent who stands with shoulders more square to you. To minimize the chance of your back leg stomp kick sliding off to the inside, aim the kick at your opponents face, or at his rear shoulder. Otherwise, change your stance to southpaw (left leg back, or "open stance"), and throw a left back leg stomp kick instead.
4) Lean your upper body back slighty as you kick, or, keep both hands up as you kick, to help avoid a counterpunch if your kick slips off to the side or is intentionally parryed.
