The sound of the propulsion motor on the car stopping at the hilltop floor and starting up from there is clear and tracable from the video. For the submontane floor next to the car park, the lift stops there at 1:45 and starts up from there at 2:31.

This is possibly the only lift of its kind within the whole of the Great China Region. It is called an inclinator. Traditionally such elevators are only found in private individual houses with steep slopes connecting the main house and the main door, meaning that only those really wealthy have access to them. But nowadays this type of lift has been introduced worldwide in places open for public access, like this ancestor grave in Hong Kong.
Visitors to this ancestral yard have to go up the hill to reach the main area of the yard. Escalators are available but they only provide uphill service. Thus most visitors choose to take the inclinator. This makes the patronage rather high. During busy periods a wait for two to three turns is necessary before you can finally get into the car.
The lift is a Schindler with original propulsion equipment. The buttons are generic and used by most brands in Hong Kong. The car is on the contrary of a cable car design with seats, manufactured by a Swiss ropeway wagon builder GANGLOFF. On the left of the car door is the button console, with the 'UP' and 'DOWN' operation buttons, the door opening button and the alarm button. There is also a staff-operated key switch to turn the mains on and off. To close the landing door, press either floor button. Opposite the landing door is an emergency exit door. In case of lift breakdown passengers can evacuate via this door and then walk up or down an escape staircase to one of the two emergency exit doors on the hilltop and submontane boarding lobbies respectively. Another example of such an elevator car design in the world is the lift at the Gateway Arch touring tower in the national park in St. Louis City, state of Missouri, U.S.A.
When approaching and just after leaving half of the way, you can see the counterweight passing through the car. With the car at a higher point of height you can get a view of the main developed area of Sha Tin on both banks of the Shing Mun River, mainly with high-rise residential blocks. Listen carefully as the car stops at and starts up from the hilltop lobby. The sound of the propulsion motor is very clearly audible.

這可能是整個大中華地區唯一的一部同類型升降機,稱為斜道升降機。傳統上這種電梯只會在有斜坡連接主屋舍及大門口的私人獨立屋找到,那就是說只有那些真正富裕的人才會接觸得到。但今時今日這種升降機已經在世界上若干對外開放的地方引進,就如這個在香港的先人墓地。
前來這個先人墓園的訪客需要上山以前往墓地的主要區域,那裏有扶手電梯但就只提供上山服務,所以大部份訪客都選擇乘搭斜道升降機,因而令需求量頗大,於繁忙期間你需要等候兩至三輪才終於能夠進入客廂。
本機是一部迅達,帶有原裝驅動設備;按鈕屬於通用並在香港大部份的牌子中都有使用。客廂則相反採用鋼索吊車的設計並設有座位,由一家瑞士索道車輛建造商GANGLOFF製造。客廂門的左手邊就是按鈕板面,有「上」及「落」的操作按鈕、開門掣及警鐘按掣,亦有一個職員操作鑰匙開關掣用作開關電源。如要關上機門,就按下其中一個樓層按掣。機門的對面有一道緊急出口門,當出現升降機故障時乘客可從本門疏散,然後沿一條逃生樓梯向上或向下步行至分別位於山頂及山下乘搭大堂的兩道緊急逃生門之一。世界上另一個類似的電梯客廂設計,就是在美國密蘇里州聖路易市國家公園內,大拱門旅遊塔的升降機。
當接近及剛好離開半途時,你會見到負重物經過客廂。而客廂在較高的高度時你可以觀看到沙田城門河兩岸的主要已發展區,多數屬於高層住宅樓宇。在客廂停在山頂大堂及由該處起動時小心聆聽:驅動機芯的聲音非常之清楚聽得到。

Ever wondered what the lifts in old community shopping arcades look like? The one here gives a very clear answer.
The shopping arcade you see here is in Lek Yuen Estate, which is the first government low rent apartment site ever in the eastern part of the New Territories. It pioneered the development of the district Sha Tin from rural to metropolitan way of life.
This is the only elevator in the whole arcade. Probably owing to colonial issues, it is an Express of British manufacture. It was installed and used to be maintained by the former sole agent English General Electric (Hong Kong). But with the acquisition of Express by OTIS in 1999, OTIS set up a subsidiary company Express Lifts (Hong Kong) to recover the brand for self-agentship. But today the mother company OTIS also carries out original maintenance work for Express lifts in Hong Kong.
The floor indicators and the buttons here were replaced by these standard units in the early 1990s. Everything else remains original. The old brand badge with the name of the former sole agent is visible. A buzzer sounds when the car stops at a floor with the corresponding outside call button pressed, which is different from that described in a notice above the inside button console.

有否想到位於舊式社區購物商場內的升降機會是怎麼的樣子?這裏的一部就給了非常之清楚的答案。
這裏你所見到的購物商場位於瀝源邨,屬於新界東部歷來第一所政府低廉出租單位屋苑。它成為了沙田區由鄉郊型發展成都市型生活方式的先鋒。
此機是整個商場唯一一部電梯。大概基於殖民地因素,它是一部英國製造的捷運牌,由前代理商英國通用電器(香港)安裝及進行以前的維修,但隨著捷運在1999年由奧的斯收購,奧的斯就成立了附屬公司捷運電梯(香港)以將品牌收歸作自家代理,但到了今日,母公司奧的斯也會替香港的捷運升降機作原廠維修。
樓層顯示器及按鈕在1990年代初被更換為這些標準部件,其餘每樣東西則保留原裝,可以見到帶有前度代理商名稱的舊有水牌。當客卡停在有相關啟動按鈕已被按下的樓層時會有一個蜂鳴響聲,跟機內按鈕面板上方一塊告示所描述的有所不同。
