About Me:

Solo bassist living on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state.

Since I get so many questions about my music I'm going to cover the basics. :)

I learned to play a right handed bass left handed 'upside down' due to having lost half of my two middle fingers and half of my thumb on my left hand in a childhood accident. :)

I play left handed five and six string Alembic Epic's that have been customized for me by the factory with new saddles, tail pieces and bridges to accomodate my right hand stringing 'upside down' left handed instrument playing style.

I learned to play 'upside down' due to not owning my own instrument for the first couple of years I played. When I could finally afford my own instrument (a right handed Fender clone), I immediately turned it 'right side up' with left hand stringing. About three days of realizing I'd have to not only relearn everything but also break my 'muscle memory' patterns, I switched it back to right hand stringing on a right hand instrument played left handed upside down until I finally got my left handed Alembics. Did that make sense? ;D

I use Roland GK3-B pickups mounted on both my five and six string basses and run them into a Roland GR-20 guitar synthesizer.

I use a Boss RC-50 loop station to perform my material and will likely incorporate another one into my performances (rather than have one just sitting around for a backup in case of emergency).

I've also recently added a Boss ME-50B multi-effects to my signal chain to add some depth and 'color' my sound as needed by my material. I also just added an Eventide Pitchfactor. Wow!

I'm also incorporating a Behringer FC1010 midi controller to my setup to use for switching patches on the loopers and synth.

I'll also be incorporating a drum machine which will also be in the midi control chain thru the FC1010.

All of the above mentioned devices/effects are either already being used live or in the rehearsal studio prior to live performance.

I've gone through a couple of different amps over the last couple of years playing as a soloist. I started with a Aguilar 2-12 combo and an Eden 4-10 cabinet but traded them away for an Epifani 1-12 combo. The Aguilar sounded great but was just too heavy at 95 pounds. I still have the Epifani but am beginning to phase out my back line and use a PA system. Currently I'm running a 16 channel Yamaha 5016CF powered mixer with two EV ZX1-90's (2 way 8's) and two EV SB122 sub-woofers. Full range frequency response does make a difference. :)

Also, I *always* answer emails and comments on my videos. Unfortunately Youtube seems to have a problem sometimes and my responses disappear so please don't think I'm unappreciative, as I'm truly grateful for all the support shown, thank you very much! :)

Guess that's enough. ;D

Any questions feel free to give a holler. :)

Best Regards,

Kimberly Lynn - Solo Bassist :)
