The Original Onyxia Wipe Animation ============================ This is an animation I made back in April 2006 about an unsuccessful, but yet disturbingly hilarious, attempt to defeat the dragon Onyxia from World of Warcraft.
The audio was created by "Dives" from the guild Wipe Club, I had nothing to do with its creation, I only made the animation.
Note: This was made pre-BC. That's right, the level cap was still 60, so you couldn't solo her back then.
PS: Cheers to the guys from "Wipe Club" (link not available) for making the sound clip! ============================ Credits: Orlando Bloom - Pirates of the Caribbean 'Priest' comic - Flintlocke's Guide to Azeroth (http://pc.gamespy.com/flintlockes-guide-to-azeroth/) Audio - "Dives", Wipeclub (link not available) ============================ Additional Info: - DKP: Dragon Kill Points: essentially a barter system where you gain points for killing bosses, attending raids, etc and use them to buy items that are dropped by said bosses. - Why is Orlando Bloom the whelp? Because in "Pirates of the Caribbean", Captain Jack and Barbosa have a conversation in which they refer to Will as a whelp. - The song in the background is "Marco V - Godd", or so I've been told. I can't confirm this, as I've never heard the song myself (except, of course, during the video).

This is a re-edit of my original music video "Big Blue Dress". Many people have been asking for me to upload a better version to YouTube now that it supports higher resolutions and wide screen. Also since I've started using YouTube to post my videos, some people wanted them all in one place. In converting this old video to wide screen, I actually had to edit it from scratch because just trimming the original didn't work as you might expect. As a result, there are some minor differences between this video and the original. Since I was doing it from scratch, I did change a few things that you might notice. However, I tried to keep these changes very small.
For you machinimators out there, I strongly recommend that you archive your footage and your project files because you never know when you might want to do something like this.
I wrote this song and shot all the footage in 2005. Not only was this before the Burning Crusade expansion pack, but also it was before the first "mage love" patch which made the mage more powerful. So please don't focus on the numbers you'll see in this video. The video was never about the critical hits. If I could have removed that text, I would have. In some cases I was able to because I was using a "camera man", but in other cases it was live footage with the UI turned off (try it some time), but I couldn't turn off the damage numbers. That said, these crits were about as good as it got in early 2005. I could have gone bigger with trinkets and arcane power, but this was considered bad form in videos at the time.
I'll include a FAQ about this video here. I'll try to answer some of the questions that have been asked over the years, and I'll try to add good questions as they crop up. If you have more questions, check my blog (www.cranius.com) or send me some mail (cranius@cranius.com).
Where can I get the MP3? Can I find this on iTunes? Download it from http://www.cranius.com/audio/BigBlueD...
How do you fly? That's not flying. That's falling with style. :) In this video, most of the flying is performed by casting Slow Fall, a mage spell that causes you to ... fall slowly. Then I mount up on my epic mount and run and jump off a cliff. You can jump from the Lumbermill to the Blacksmith in Arathi Basin, for example.
How do you cast a giant fireball while moving/flying? The mage talent "Presence of Mind" (aka "POM") causes your next cast to be instant. So I cast this spell and then cast Pyroblast. Since it's instant, you can cast it while moving/flying.
What's that white horse? Where do you get it? The white stallion was the original human epic mount. It's no longer available in game. Only those who kept their original epic mount still have one.
What are you wearing in this video? Cowboy hat - Master's Hat Pink - Magister's set (so-called tier 0.5) Blue - Original PvP set Brown - Twill "set" (it sucks, but it looks cool) :)
Who's the Author? Who made the music video? I wrote the song, I go by "Cranius", and I made the original music video as well as this new version here. I didn't upload the original version to YouTube, though some other people did.
What are the lyrics? What are the gnomes saying? See http://cranius.spaces.live.com/blog/c...
