Since 1985 the members of Youth Centre of Halastra have been the cultural participants of the Halastra municipality. The centre was founded in 1978 and Y.C.H. members continue its purpose until today. It has its seat within the municipality of Halastra. It is located 20 Km west of Thessaloniki and positioned on the eastern side of the Axios River , the heart of Central Macedonia. Halastra dates back to the era of Alexander the Great and has been developed economically and culturally throughout the centuries. Its population reaches up to 10.000 people. It is purely an agricultural area and its people are mainly busy with maintaining its agricultural land and fishing business, which is situated about 7 Km south of Halastra (Gulf of Thermaikos).

Axios Delta is in the frames of Halastra , a place with great flora and fauna, an important place for Greece and the Balkans. It is also internationally recognized and protected by the RAMSAR convention.

The Y.C.H. is in charge of all the cultural activities which take place in the town. There is a Dance Club where Greek traditional dances are taught, a Drama Club, a Band, a Byzantine music and a Club of Folk Greek music. The Y.C.H. has more than 300 members, who are active in all these culture clubs and offers their help voluntarily in every cultural activity or festival which is organized in the town. Every year many festivals are held in Halastra , festivals such as the "Vardaris Festival" , "Ramsar Festival" , "Independence Day of Halastra", the "Stars Festival" and the "Fifteenth of August Festival".

The Traditional Dance Club is an important part of the Y.C.H. During the last years there has been an increase in the number of members (there are about 250 members in the Adults, Teenagers and Children's group) which means that not only the obligations but also the abilities of this particular club are extended. Its participants organize the recording of music and the presentations of local music, dances and customs, bringing back the revival of customs, which have been lost for many years. Some of the yearly customs that become a reality are the "Rogatsia" at the beginning of the year, the "Lazarines" which takes place in Easter and "The feast of the Ivy" (bonfire feast) which is held in June.

The Traditional Dance Club remarkably participates in performing dances in the Festivals of Greece in areas such as Thessaloniki, island of Paros, island of Samos, Larissa, Ioannina, Halkidiki, Orestiada, Kozani and also abroad in countries such as Hungary , Bulgaria , Turkey , Romania, Czech and Italy. The dances which are performed by the Y.C.H. club mainly represent dances of Macedonia and Thrace. Costumes worn in the performances correspond to each region.
