Ataa, born in Accra, Ghana is the son of a well-known record producer, Nii Edward Newman-Adjiri who was responsible for producing the music of the 50's, 60's and 70's that ruled the streets of Ghana known as "Highlife Music".
Ataa's unique style and sound took him from the music scenes in Ghana to London, New York and finally to Seattle.
Ever true to his native Ghana, the sound now being produce by his band, Ataa Music, is electric.
The Alternative sounds include Seattle Rock, Bluegrass, Irish Folk, and of course the "Highlife" using guitars, Balophones and electronics. Mix all that together with slap bass and rhythmic drumming and you have one of the most refreshing sounds on the market today.
