The Asian Development Bank's mission is to help developing Asia - Pacific nations reduce poverty and improve their people's quality of life.

Despite impressive advances over the past decade, Asia and the Pacific still remain home to two thirds of the world's poor, with some 600 million people in the region living on less than US$ 1 a day.

ADB is committed to reducing poverty through inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration in partnership with governments, the private sector, nongovernment organizations, development agencies, community-based organizations and foundations.

Headquartered in Manila and established in 1966, ADB is owned and financed by its 67 member countries -- 48 from the region and 19 from other parts of the globe.
