She has sucessfully competed in numerous opera and clasical music competitions receiving First Prize in many, including the Mozarteum of Santa Fe, Asociación Promociones Musicales of the National Fund for Arts, Pau Casals for Young Singers, and Banco Mayo Foundation. She also claimed Second Prize at the Manuel Ausensi International Competition (Spain, 1999) and First Mention at the Young Talent Competition of Art Channel. She has been awarded too at the International Singing Competition of Clermont-Ferrand (France, 2007). Soledad Cardoso recorded the first Argentinean opera composed for children and has performed with the most important orchestras of her country. She has appeared on many prestigious stages, such as the French Club and the Salón Dorado of the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires). She was given the Mozart Jubileo Tercer Milenium Award for her artistic merit and relocated to Spain for further training with the noted tenor Alfredo Kraus. There she received the distinction of remarkable student, a title delegated to her by Queen Sofía. She continued her studies in Spain with Teresa Berganza and participated in master-classes with Renata Scotto, Ileana Cotrubas and Hakan Hagegard.

...... Irina Kulikova was born in Chelyabinsk,[2] the capital of South-Ural, Russia. Under the guidance of her mother -- cellist Vinera Kulikova[3] -- she started developing her musicianship from the earliest age. At twelve, she was already travelling around Russia and abroad for gala-concerts and festivals. At fourteen, she was included in the book 'The Classical Guitar, its evolution, players and personalities since 1800' by Maurice Summerfield, director of the Ashley Mark Publishing Company.

Ever since this early recognition, Irina Kulikova has caught the attention of leading guitarists, critics and audiences around the world. Classical Guitar Magazine (UK) wrote about her: 'She has the potential to become a powerful presence on the guitar.' And Soundboard Magazine (USA) in a CD review: 'The opening sections of the Tansman Variations on a Theme of Scriabin include some of the most sheerly beautiful playing I have ever heard, with gorgeous sounds and exquisitely balanced sonorities.'[4]

Kulikova has given concerts all over Europe, Russia, and in North-America, performing as a soloist,[5] in a variety of ensembles and with a number of orchestra's. She played at leading guitar festivals all over the world and in beautiful halls like the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, the Academic Capella in St. Petersburg and the Schloss Mirabel in Salzburg. She performed for various members of the royal and aristocratic families of Germany and Denmark.

The experts' appreciation of her interpretations is underlined by numerous awards on prestigious international guitar competitions, culminating with five 1st prizes in 2008: Michele Pittaluga in Italy, Guitarra Alhambra in Spain, Forum Gitarre Wien in Austria, the International Guitar competition Iserlohn in Germany and the 'Twents Gitaarfestival'[6] in the Netherlands, 2008. In the same year, she was awarded the Young talent, Culture and Podium prize in the Netherlands.

Irina Kulikova graduated with distinction at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg (Austria), the Gnessins Academy in Moscow (Russia) and the Conservatoire of Maastricht (The Netherlands). She studied with outstanding musicians like Marco Tamayo, Carlo Marchione, Simone Fontanelli (modern music), Howard Penny (baroque music) and Hans Brüderl (baroque lute).

Since 2007, Irina Kulikova lives and teaches in the Netherlands.

-------------------- " She made a smooth transition to sound and throughout the rest of the 1930s and into the war years remained a top attraction in Japan. She entered into a lasting relationship in the form of a common-law marriage with Mr. Saito, who had managed her advertising activity at Morinaga. The couple had a daughter, Miyuki, in 1942 and, after going through all the hardships of the war, in 1946, Michiko was again pregnant during the filming of Mizoguchi's "Victory of Women" for Shochiku's Ofuna studio. It was near the end of shooting on the late afternoon of March 29 that she suddenly collapsed on the set and was rushed to the former navy hospital in Ofuna. There is a fascinating sequel to this. Although it would be a number of years before Miyuki Kuwano discovered that the mother she had lost at the age of four had been a major star, by then, she was following in her mother's footsteps. As one of Japan's most prominent young actresses in the 1950s and 1960s, Miyuki played leads in films directed by, among others, Akira Kurosawa, Nagisa Oshima, and Yasujiro Ozu. Her films for Ozu include "Equinox Flower" and "Late Autumn." One of Miyuki's co-stars in "Late Autumn" was Mariko Okada, the daughter of another great star, actor Tokihiko Okada, who had also worked for Ozu and died at 31 when she was very young. Indeed, Tokihiko Okada had died of tuberculosis in 1934, the very same year that Michiko Kuwano began her career. The great novelist Junichiro Tanizaki had given him the stage name of Tokihiko and also gave his daughter her stage name of Mariko. When he mentioned that to her, she quipped, "That's okay, 'cause I'm not a genius like Dad. I won't die young." Nevertheless, like Miyuki, she did inherit her famous parent's talent and popularity and most fortunately is still going strong as a star of contemporary Japanese films. What a flood of memories Ozu must have had when, in "Late Autumn," he found himself directing the children of two of his most outstanding stars who had died so young!
