dv5247 does not speak for all the native people maybe just tarahumara, most quichua people are mixed some with light skin and some with light brown eyes, some look whiter than the mestizos, its hard to define who is indigenous and who is not but to me as long as you speak the native language that means your native, and if you don't speak it you can still recuperate it by finding a language you feel closest to, most quichuas have open arms for anyone believe it or not many gringos have married quichuas and adopted the culture, to me just because your mixed don't mean your not native. I like your videos on nahuatl keep it up.

anen87 most native americans in mexico have spanish surnames because of the catholic missioneries dur the colonial period some places like the stats of chiapas and yucatan alot of the mayan groups have origanal names the same thing for the country of guatemala in our state of chihuahua the tarahumara the majority only had firs names during the early 1900's the goverment gave the last names to register them as mexican citizens but some about 2500 live so remote that they chose traditional last names the same for the u.s in the south west those that had spanish missionary contact have spanish surnames southeast louisiana alabama mississippi french it all depends how much wite contact they had
