i just wanna know, im assuming you fill a dip tank with emulsion remover? if so, do you leave the emulsion remover in the tank and clean multiple screens with it then change the emulsion remover after a certain number of cleanings?
@wolfrifle16 Actually I do not. My brother uses a dip tank in his shop but it is horizontal rather than vertical so he uses less chemical to fill the tank to a useful level. He says it lasts about a month or more but that depends on usage. I spray my emulsion remover on with a squirt bottle and then let it stand a minute before pressure washing. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
@brunoclyde34 You’re welcome; it’s my pleasure to help out in any way. Normally the metal screens are sent out for re-stretching and all you should need to do is remove the old mesh and clean ink off the frame. Otherwise you would have to use an adhesive remover or a metal power brush. Good luck! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
@dizzytoledo Because it's actually a food-service sink with three different basins. They are separated by a wall and a screen doesn't fit in any one of them. So trying to use that would end up leaving water all over the place. I have a washout booth now. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

@tpvajgert Yes, use some “de hazer” or “haze remover” in combination with a pressure washer. That should do the trick. If not the mesh is probably trashed. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

hey do you recomend a Electric or Gas power washer I'm looking at getting one but I have heard bad things about each side as Im looking at the one you have in this Video at home depot or a Gas one at Sams club and having a hard time choosing
@Biginsworld I always recommend electric because they do not need to be ventilated. If you are doing your work outdoors, then I guess a gas one is fine. But if you are in a garage even with the door open, you would probably want an electric unit. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
Great vid! Any concerns with putting these solvents/chemicals into the municipal waste system? As a home gamer, the last thing I need is a visit from the city/state on what I'm doing in the garage. Any thoughts on mitigation?
@duece2kTwo The Saati chemicals I use are non hazardous and drain safe. ER2 is chemically formulated to change the Saati emulsions to latex which is acceptable by most city treatment systems. And the chemicals themselves are also city compatible. If you live in the suburbs where the waste is going into a leach field may not be so good. But always check with your local laws if you are unsure. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
I have a new problem when reclaiming a screen, after I wash ink off, then remove stencil, I do a final spray off (pressure) and I get 3 to 6 fine black dots randomly hit the screen. They look like ink splashing back, but I cant figure out where they are coming from. I cleaned and painted my whole wash booth and bought a new gun for my pressure washer and still get these dots. I will go NUTS very soon. Any Ideas? Thanks
@usernamebutton If you believe you know it is not anything splashing back on the screen from the washout booth, then the only culprit left is the pressure washer. On rare occasions pressure washers will spit grease or oil out from the innards of the unit. This is normally due to grease or oil used in the manufacturing of the unit. It should eventually clean itself out. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
@punkygirl232000 I buy my emulsions already made and ready to go. I use Saatichem products. You can find them on my website under the Print Supplies page at a 5% discount plus free shipping! I am not familiar with clear photosensitive emulsions. I have never used one. Thanks for watching and commenting!
cool that's great. i'm gonna try the suggestions you emailed. i already did a bit of thinner yesterday and it made some difference but i'm worried that i'm brushing the screen with the rough cloth (i don't have a brush yet) too strongly.
also i was surfing and i came across a cool suggestion of going to a car wash to get the pressure washing done. i have two nearby to me so i'm going to try it!
@anndjazz Good luck. Yea, make sure you don’t abrade the mesh too much by scrubbing with anything. Ink & emulsion should be removed mostly by solvents, not scrubbing. Be careful not to damage the mesh. The carwash spray booths may work but remember you will be washing inks, solvents and emulsion into the city water treatment system. Thanks for watching & commenting!
thanks for this helpful vid! i was wondering.. what can i do if i don't have a power washer? i found an old screen with plenty of ink on it and i want to reclaim it.
but i don't have a pressure washer. i can get a bit of pressure on my showerhead at one of the settings. is there a slower version of the cleaning process that i can do using the showerhead instead?
@anndjazz I’ll message you with something you can try but a pressure washer is going to be very helpful in your screen making and reclaiming. Visit the Equipment Sales page of the website to check out my picks for pressure washers from Sears. They’re not too expensive these days. Thanks for watching & commenting!
@benfrg91 I use cold tap water which can be tepid to luke warm but I like a cooler water. Not too cold, not too warm. Thanks for watching & commenting!
LOL, yes, I would do that if I had better editing software, the knowledge and most importantly, the time. The videos are designed to convey information first and be somewhat entertaining as well. Using 2 cameras makes for a lot of editing and cutting and so on so I try not to do it if I can help it. It just depends on the shots I want and the video topic. But, yea, I am an amateur videographer. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Its a matter of make do with what you have got!..Very much like your wash out tank!..we all need to start somewhere and with perseverance and a decent pressure washer no one should be put off having a go. Your videos are doing a great service in tutoring start up printers like myself.
This is true. One day I will fill in all the gaps and have the equipment I really want to have but in the meantime, I can get by with the basics. Thanks for the great comment! I am glad you like the videos!
3 years old? At that point the screen may not even be able to be reclaimed. As a general rule, if you leave a stencil on a screen for more than a year, you should expect that screen to be permanent. It is not recommended to leave emulsion on the screen for long periods of time if you intend to reuse it. Also using good chemicals and a pressure washer will make things much easier. Like the video shows; reclaiming is that easy, if you know what to do. Thanks for the comment!

Just alittle tip for when making future multi camera videos, only use the audio from the highest quality camera, so the audio is consistent.

I can see why Aluminium frames are better. So the mesh has a limited life too? I didn't realise that.

Yes, much like any fabric, when exposed to physical activity it will wear and eventually loose integrity. Thanks for the comment!
