This may sound completely moronic, but I'm quite new to cooking and am trying to learn just about everything at once but... how unhealthy is CornStarch, and is there any replacement that could be more healthy?
@perpetualdystopia I've had this wok forvever and can't remember where I purchased it; but it is a Joyce Chen non stick wok and I use it for almost everything. Thank you so much for trying this :)
@AsianCookingmadeEasy The garlic and carrots made this dish so wonderful! I used dried minced garlic, I was too lazy to chop fresh, it tasted so good! Great recipe! Thanks.
@sbjam2011 Hi - you can use either the shao hsing wine; or for a non alcoholic alternative you can use a mix of 1/2 rice vinegar mixed with 1/2 water :)
@TrGuzeli87 Usually this is found in most Asian grocery stores. If you can't find it you can substitute with cooking sherry which is in most local grocery stores near the vinegar section :)
@AsianCookingmadeEasy Thank you! I just made your recipe and It came out great! I used oyster sauce in the sauce ingredient and it came out delicious. No more running to the Chinese restaurant :)
i love your videos! i must say, i love using chicken breast for this recipe. ive noticed most asian restaurants use another cut of chicken. do you know what it is?? because i know for a fact its not chicken breast it has a totally different texture..
@lx3100 To use flour to thicken, you need to add a little butter to it first and make a roux. This will change the flavor slightly of the final dish, but will still be good. You can also use arrowroot which will act very similar to cornstarch :)
Hey, stumbled across your video looking at other recipes, I'll actually be making this tonight! It's really weird though, I'm also half Chinese, on my moms side, and half white from my dad. Plus I can tell you have a southern accent because I grew up and live in the GA (my dad is southern). Too weird! Anyway, great video!
Looks delicious, thanks again =D. I really need to get myself a real wok instead of using a flat saute pan...it just doesn't work the same sometimes =[].

I was actually curious, alot of recipes said to use oyster sauce for the chicken marinade, is this recommended?
metalrave 1 year ago
@metalrave I usually use soy sauce and/or sherry as the base in most marinades and oyster sauce mainly as an ingredient in the sauce for a recipe :)
