i am almost 21 and have lisond to larrys music my entire life my dad was a fan and even saw him in concert in germanie i have grown up on my parents musice and love it i also love the new stuff to i think that alot of time people from my generation just blow off the old stuff which i think is sad. they dont understand that if it wasnt for the old music the new music would not be here. i just needed to share this somewere and i figered here would be a good place
Big balls huge heart & a mind like a steel beartrap our Christ had..
He called himself a "HARDMAN" (Believe-it) & yet he was gentle to the meek & meek with the gentle & as the Jewish prophet said he wouldn't quench the dim glow of a wounded spirit or further damage an already broken human soul but as for that gentle Jesus meek & mild crap you're talking about the Lion of the Tribe of Judah & son of the 'ENLIL' ruler of the galaxy (At-least) & the toughest man to ever walk the earth...
@spacelizardlaw I'd use better terms, but u'r correct he's Lord of lords.
Christians can not go thru this walk w/out doctrinal debates, and just saying that perks the ears of some, but reply please save it. This guy Larry came out BOLD + equipted knowing God/Jesus was out in the real world not a church bible study [sorry i didn't caps b' in bible]. There's a different in what church you attend and being mature in Christ. But, Jesus to me seemed perfectly bold at being gental.
From the moment I first heard this song in the early 80's, it has been carved on my memory as a simple statement of Christian Faith. Larry Norman had a remarkable talent for writing and singing songs that were relevant for both Christian and secular audiences. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.
@WernerFinck come on - don't be so hard on your self. You didn't get the meaning of the song, when you heard it first. Listen again :-) Never call yourself terrible and stupid. You are made in the image of GOD... He loves you.
I've known of Larry for years. I think he's the best Christian singer EVER, and "Upon This Rock" is a classic. I have had some incredible experiences in my life as a Christian, but of late my faith seems to have simply evaporated. I am so sick of the Hate, Killing, Torture and Mayhem we, as "Human Beings" have created, that I have started feeling God, if He made us in His image, must be totally IMperfect Himself. How did He get it all SO wrong?!
Powerful gift / ability / life all used for the Kingdom of God and furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ...not very popular on earth perhaps - yet for certain very well known / loved / rewarded in Heaven.
I just recently discovered Larry's music, and have been blessed by it! Of course the Devils is going it get some good music, considering the position he choose to surrender, its to be expected.
Truth of the matter is, Satan has more reasons or need to scream, all the louder because he already knows he is lost and doesn't want to spend eternity in HELL ALONE!! We know that won't that won't the case, but if people continue to allow world system to think 4 them, the deception will continue!
When I became a Christian in 1972. A Christian friend introduced me Larry Norman Upon This Rock album. The Upon This Rock is my all time favourite album. And Only Visiting This Planet is my second.
I only discovered this song yesterday. I had heard "I Wish We'd All Been Ready" since I was 12 years old (I'm now 44) but somehow I never heard this song. I love it. Great video.
I would like to say if it was not for this man I would be still be lost. I met Larry many many years ago, early 70's in a town called Espanola New Mexico My Name is Heson Romero my ask you abut the outlaw song and since then that song stuck in my head
Thank you.
