Honda Element for Dogs? 2009 New York Auto Show

Go to any dog event/dog show and you will see a ton of these there! They are great for pets!

Great car. One that get criticized too often for it's appearance. Ugly or not, this car has qualities few others have. Great for making out in the back with the seats folded up. Add a sunshade and a blanket and you're good to go. It's lack of cloth and carpet helps keep it clean smelling, unlike most cars that force people to use febreeze. I heard it's being discontinued. What the heck am I going to buy when my 2004 meets it's demise?

My newest addition to my wish list for next year, we re a family of 4 plus I have a 65 pound red doberman I think she fits perfectly in the back & i love the fact that it doesnt have carpet ! :D

I have a Honda Element and absolutely love it. Whoever stated that a station wagon is the same is very wrong. It has a very high ceiling, unlike most vehicles. You could certainly fit a large dog in there but not all your show equipment. I show medium sized dogs and it is almost too small to bring my show gear. It's great for carting your pet around town or on road trips. There is no carpet so it's easy to vacuum up pet hair or blow it out, No carpet to mess with. Drives great. Love my Element.

I hope that Honda doesn't target only the Small and medium dogs. That tends to be the case more often than not. I show Great Danes and German Shepherds. How about offering a package for us Big Dogs? I hope they do, It'd be a shame if they didn't.

This is one of the reasons why Honda don't suck. People say Honda suck, but yet they sell cars as fast as a fat kid eat cake. Honda thinks outside the box, and I'm pretty sure this car will be a hit, in it's own way. A lot of dog lovers, and dog owners would probably buy this car just for their dogs. Good Job Honda. Unique. First car made for dogs, I pretty sure, well as far as I heard of.

honda shouldnt build a pet friendly element, they should just offer things like that on the options list on most of their vehicles, i have a tent in the back of my car which is made for a dog, also used to have a cage which sat in the boot, its was very large though, you can already buy products like this

Many Gen Y people are replacing the pattern of getting married and having children with staying single and having pets.

The market research drove them to come up with this idea.

It will sell as a dealer installed package for about 500-1000.

Gen X that had families paid 1200-2000 extra for the Eddie Bauer package in Ford products to have trees embossed in the seats.

When I drive by the park here in Austin, I usually see hippies/yuppies driving these types of compact SUV things, and they DO usually have a dog with them!

I just hope this is a package though, cause trying to make everyone buy this would be bad business...

It would be good for dogs that have injuries or can't be moved that much i think. If a dog has a hip problem or something, it's easier to walk up a ramp instead of jumping or being lifted into it. On the other hand, what about bigger dogs? Can they stand up in it or do they just stay laying down?

Well think about it this way how many times to you see people carrying dogs in their car? I'd hate to say what happens when those people get in a wreck or those dogs cause a wreck same goes with cats in a car. And some people don't have another option. Personally if I did have a dog and planned on regularly carring it it would have to be in a pick up for the smell though. Anyways its a good safe idea I bet my aunt would buy it if they made it in cat XD
