In my opinion the beat was one of the best aspects of the song; really demonic. And the simplicity of it enables Tyler's voice to dominate, which is a wise decision; but you picked up on that anyway.

If you thought listening to the beat was like chewing on tin foil; then I think maybe the production succeeded in a way; because I think it's supposed to be slightly discomforting, which compliments the slightly disturbing nature of the lyrics.
