Sorry but grow up. This will get you no where other than laughed at.
I sincereley hope you get as much money back as you can and hopefully as much as 100% but the risk of putting your money with someone else is always that you might not get back what you gave. Honest to god, i hope you get the full amount back
Congratulations, RAMSEYVIKING - you have been sucked in by the IoM's expensive PR machine! They did a good job in convincing people that this is indeed the case. The reality is we are being offered a meagre 22.1% after 11 months of misery and despair....hardly getting our money back. It is mere hush money aimed at keeping us quiet about this whole fiasco. I won't keep quiet until someone tells me just how much of our money has been squandered to get us to this point?
You believe all you hear from the IOMG. 10 months have gone by and I have received a very small sum of money and have little hope of getting it all back. What would you do if your salary was paid into a bank and disappeared every onth for 10 months?
Exactly - angelsanddoves - none of us wants any more than OUR money back that we deposited in a bank - just like having your salary paid into your designated bank. - BUT it has been stolen - and NO promise of it's 100% return
The Isle of Man government are culpable for their current inaction in not ensuring the money their FSC put in the UK is returned. I'm certain if they took our position (which they could and should do) there would be action from them!
guillotine888 - I wonder what tune you would be singing if you had spent 40+ years working hard and saving the proceeds and then had them taken from you? To learn that MY money was spent by some bank exec to fly Elton John to his birthday party does not sit too well with me. "Justice very rarely prevails" you say. Bernie Madoff got 150 years for his "creative accounting". Now that's what I call justice.

Funny how people change their tune when it all goes wrong. Interest rate chasers got their comeuppance. The Icelandic economy and banks had been warned about in the media for sometime before their collapse, as the saying goes, if it's to good to be true...

It's the equivalent of the little Dutch boy sticking his finger in the dam....the IOM are taking any desperate measures to stop the flood of money that is now leaving the Island. Too little, too late, me thinks!

Brilliant video! To all those people who are saying 'do something about it' - isn't that exactly what this lady is doing? If anyone puts money into a BANK - it should be safe! Obviously the Isle of Man is NOT SAFE! She is just warning other people - she needn't have bothered! Don't slag-off somebody who has the guts to DO something!
Oh and by the way if you buy masks like that no wonder they took all your money there saving you from beeing seen in public with that mask on.....catchy tune on the song though =P
Aat 68 and chronically sick, I dont think that is likely. By the way I work many hours on behalf of myself and others to restore our hard earned life savings. What do you think about your salary going into a bank and disappearing down a black hole?
The truth of the matter is, and some of you just don't get it (anti this video etc), that there was nothing wrong with the bank. It had funds to trade with and a loan book that was generally OK. What knocked it into insolvency was the action of the IOM transferring over 500 million pounds of depositors savings to the UK. So really, how can you 'bank' on the Isle of Man? Simple answer. You can't.
Actually it was seized by the UK Government from the Icelandic Banks, the Isle of Man also want this money back from UK however there isnt enough money left and the IOM will never see the money!!!
UK Icelandic subsidiaries KSF, Heritable and Icesave collapsed on 7 and 8 October last year. In each case, declaration of default triggered FSCS protection. Under FSCS rules claimants can claim up to £50,000 while the Government issued top-up payments for depositors with over £50,000.
DIDN'T HAPPEN IN THE ISLE OF MAN - WHY NOT?? WHY CAN'T THEY FOLLOW THE EXAMPLE OF THE UK??
Why should the Isle of Man Government bail this woman out? Thats Tax payer's money, its not there fault she invested her money in a dodgey Icelandic Bank!!!
I agree; don't bank on the Isle of Man. How long will we have to wait to see any of our savings returned? Even under the DCS, no money has been returned after nearly 10 months.
Congratulations to fleeced2008 for her bravery in putting herself out there to alert the world of all that is wrong on the Isle of Dishonesty. I'm sure she would much rather live quietly and out of the spotlight but she has been forced to take this drastic action because of the callous way in which the UK and IoM governments are willing to wash their hands of their desperate citizens. Thanks to this brave lady's pro-active stance, the IoM can no longer hide behind their false assurances.
Great Video - depositors take heed. DON'T BANK ON THE ISLE OF MAN!
Sold your house, come into some inheritance or sold a business? Please be sensible don't put in on the Isle of Man. They don't come under the UK Guarantees - they aren't even in the EU. They are one of the very few financial juridictions who have not guaranteed depositors 100% of their money back as a result of Icelands problems! Don't run the risk its not worth it - learn from my mistake I've lost my life savings there!!
You were banking with an Icelandic bank that hugely over-extended itself by what Bizarro logic can you blame the Isle of Man for the collapse? The Isle of Man Government depositor protection scheme is virtually identical to that of the UK: Jersey and Guernsey have NO depositor protection scheme at all and if you'd put your money in an Icelandic bank in the Channel Islands you'd have lost every penny instead of getting £25,000 compensation.
Like many others I have lost my savings in this debacle. I am amazed at the incompetence and indifference of all those involved on the Isle of Man and in the UK and Iceland. Shame on you all.
I am a UK charity worker in Taiwan and as such am locked out of the UK banking system. My deposit, for retirement, was first with the trusty Derbyshire. When it was taken over by Kaupthing, I was reassured my savings were safe. I was told about a parental guarantee and the IOM regulator approved the sale. Now 9 months later I agree with you about their shamelessness having seen their treatment of depositors who trusted their hollow assurances. So yes agree "Dont bank on the IOM"
We did what everyone else did and saved all our money for our future. We did nothing wrong. We were told by a KSFIOM staff a day before our money was stolen that the bank was able to handle things and nothing was going to go wrong. We transfered our money but were told later that we were too late. Not only did KSF steal our money , their staff lied & reassured us on October 8th that we were not going to lose anything. We worked hard and trusted KSFIOM. They did not care and never will.
Many KSFIOM depositors were transferred by Derbyshire BS. We were not allowed to withdraw our savings bonds as we were legally contracted to stay a certain time. Many, Many people saved with Singer and Friedlander for many, many years, when IOM earnt money off them. Your FSC/Government were in charge of these changes, so it is the IOM's responsibility!!
And who in authority is helping these inncoent savers? No one. I have been in touch with both Tynwald and the UK Government to try to get them talking. Although there are a few decent people there, it seems the UK doesn't care and Tynwald has its head in the sand, presumably scared of losing its independence. I feel sorry not only for the wronged depositors but also for decent people on the IoM who will inevitably suffer as investors and savers migrate to safer places.
Imagine this. You go in the bank to ask for some money. The Cashier says, 'you don't have any money.' You look stunned. Stagger out the bank. you don't know where to go, what to do. You can't pay the mortgage, the rent, food, you can't claim benefits, you can't pay for medication. OK you Manx people. What do you do?
I guess you don't understand the full details - deposits in a bank werer NOT VIEWED AS A RISK - unlike the stock market!! Until this bank collapsed all depositors money was SAFE.
YOu are right the UK does have over 50% of our bank's money but the government of the Isle of Man can / should request it's return, as a Crown Dependancy they can do that BUT they haven't the gumption. They are spioneles and too bust covering their own bottoms - so that's why I say DON'T BANK ON THE ISLE OF MAN.
People on this site who are blaming the victims - how can you be so obtuse? We are a group of people who naively believed that depositing our money in a BANK - not speculating, not taking risks -would guarantee that our money would be available for old age. The IOM let us down, lost our money to the machinations of the British and Icelandic government and are now failing to regain it and our trust. DON'T BANK IN THE ISLE OF MAN - your money is not safe
"The reason you're stuck in this unfortunate situation is because you clearly didn't understand the risks, but were quite happy to take advantage of the benefits"
the reason people are stuck in this unfortunate situation is they chose depositing in a back over investing in more risky areas.
It's makes me want to cry when I see people saying that the KSFIOM depositors are to blame for losing their life savings and pensions because they didn't understand the risks. I have letters from the bank and glossy brochures telling me that there was NO RISK, that my deposit was 100% safe because of the guarantees in place. Now that the money has been lost everyone just blames everyone else. The Isle of Man Govt failed to regulate and allowed the bank to advertise a non-existent guarantee.
The lady is right, I lost my life savings in this bank.
The 100% guarantee attracted me to the the bank but it has since proved worthless.
The IOM placed the money in an unsecured deposit in the UK and THEY have lost it. They should sort something out with the UK, Iceland or the IMF but, to date, have done nothing except come up with a rejected Scam of Arrangement.
The message here is simple; if you value your wealth, DONT BANK ON THE ISLE OF MAN!
Well done! Quite agree, the Isle of Man have shown that they are unfit to act as a financial centre. Thousands of savers with Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander have been denied their savings and the Isle of Man have failed them completely.
Come on folks - all you other depositors - make some more videos! I am not a depositor, but I have friends who are. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. It CAN make a difference!
I really hope this goes around the world and starts to make a real difference in helping to get our money back - the whole thing is a sham and disgrace to the IOM's reputation....
Well done fleeced; what a pity nobody warned us before we got caught in the IoM trap.
To anyone watching & reading this, please
"DON'T Bank on the Isle of Man" it could seriously damage your health and any wealth you may have spent years of toil to accumulate for your old age!!!!!!!!!
Hear hear. If only they had stood up, like other governments and supported their depositors 100%. The Isle of Man has proved to be dithering, unprofessional and unsupportive in the collapse of one of their banks. Parental guarantees have meant nothing. Banking decisions have been suicidal. DON"T BANK ON THE ISLE OF MAN!
Thia is fabuloue - a hint of comedy with a real message - DON'T BANK IN THE ISLE OF MAN.
10,000 depositors have suffered 10 monthas of misery and still no real promise of 100% of our funds being returned - we may get 70% over the next 6 years. Just not good enough - if this were an African famine people in UK would be protesting that the government of the country concerned should help those suffering - BUT all we have is SILENCE --
What a star - is this the ONLY person to stand up for the people who have lost their life savings in this terrible shamble of greedy banks?? Well done - keep it up!
I AM BANKED ON THE ISLE OF MAN AND I'M PROUD!

Great video!!!
I really hope this goes around the world and starts to make a real difference in helping to get our money back - the whole thing is a sham and disgrace to the IOM's reputation....
