  • that thing on the roof is no more than wasting extra gas

  • it would make much more sense to have a wind turbine inside of the car and not on top of it

  • are you sure that'a wind turbine.. it looks like a car that takes panoramic pictures for google street view...

  • @jaykayvenom ...I've seen a few of these up close parked ...I'm pretty sure it's a wind turbine...The Google Earth cars are clearly marked and they often travel in twos, and threes :))

  • Where you can buy these windturbine"s?

  • @MrLol4you ..I don't believe it is yet out for mass purchase. This could be a test car or it is owner built. :)

  • That optional extra also comes with a foil hat.

  • sorry, but after you figure the drag and overall conversion efficiencies, this is NOT and CAN NOT BE an "energy saver."

period. physics. facts of life. anyone claiming differently is pulling a hoax on you.

if there were ANY truth to that concept, every car would already have one. and if you notice, they don't.

    :)

  • it's a sensor for driving assistance.u will see same sensors on this video

    /watch?v=75lKJN-D4xs&feature=related

    thank you

  • the thin on top looks more like a "spinning" camera or perimeter sensor... A wind turbine on top of a car to charge the batteries on the go WILL NEVER WORK!! There is NO such thing as free energy!

The woman in this clip is clearly not an engineer or scientist... If the wind turbine on the top of the roof would make the car go further, then the inventor would have practically invented an "infinity-machine". But sadly no such thing exists - anywhere!

  • @TheRunehogh ...did you get a bill for the sun or a wind bill recently? Harnessing the energy is where the cost is..If you go outside and feel the wind and sun you will not get a bill for it...the lady on the clip never said she was an engineer or scientist I never heard her her claim that... Obviously you're not a mechanic, engineer, scientist or whatever....you just regurgitate what you assume you know, which is not much of anything clearly....

  • @TheRunehogh Getting energy from wind is not a free energy scheme. In this case it is a way of recuperating some of the energy that goes into moving the vehicle. In the case of wind farms it is harnessing the energy of naturally occurring winds, which I believe are caused by heat/pressure differentials.

  • The added drag of the turbine is more than can be compensated for by the added electricity. The only good use of the turbine would be regenerative braking, but still, overall, this idea is a net loss.

  • @AngelAndTheWolf

Possibly a better idea would be a low profile roof mounted tank track type of arrangement where the top of the track would be blown back by the car's movement through the air, while the lower returning portion would be shielded from the airflow) yet the mechanical resistance of the generator (therefor, the wind resistance of the track) might still be more than the power produced

  • @AngelAndTheWolf ...sounds good...you should patent it :)

  • @rhocDaVegan Naw, it's too much effort for a very small gain. You can have the idea for free.

  • Is that a perpetual motion machine? LOL

Any electricity generated by a wind turbine on top of a car will be more than offset by the additional aerodynamic drag. Very bad idea.

  • @mtnleaf ..I think any reduction in the use of gas IS A GOOD IDEA...wind, sun are free and are renewable resources...drag or not wind is more of an ecologically and economically sound form of energy...unless you are a race car driver who cares about drag...(O_o)...

  • Look more like Googles autonomous (selfdriving) car. Search for in on Google and read more about it.

  • @johthe ....I'll look into it...In the Bay Area we see a lot of different Google cars but I've never heard of the autonomous car..cheers :D

  • @rhocDaVegan only in California, the liberal state will always be the first to come out with the best environmental friendly cars! If only everything else wasn't so expensive like property taxes and there wasn't so much silicone around and earthquakes otherwise i'd move there.

  • @whole27 ...everything does have a price (or discount)... I think Cali people believe it's all worth it.. :)

  • @rhocDaVegan the device looks like a LIDAR scanner. A wind turbine on top of a car would be good, but only if it doesn't increase the drag while the car is moving.

  • I think I saw this Prius going down 101 today. Not sure I'd want that thing strapped to the top of my Prius, though.
