This line has some of the craziest Amtrak consists I have ever seen.

I was on that train set when it ran as 341. The HEP crapped out as did a water pump.

Whats the point of having a cabbage(NPCU) when you have a dash 8 on 1 end and a P42 on the other?

The NPCU's control stand crapped out that day. Given that the 506 needed to be put on during metra rush hour, using the track 19/track 28 extension was not possible. Therefore the easiest solution was to just attach 506 on the ass end of the train.
