@jako348 Excuse me! You are really rude, God Bless the Church, God bless the good priests and those who devout their lives to God. There are state run homes who treated people as bad as this not to mention a recent finding of how they were abusing old people in the homes by giving them cold shower, these were not nuns or priests but state nurses. The Church is made of saints and sinners. I have always had good priests training me.
@priest008 church is a pedophiles's liar. no one is innocent. church is the church that help nazi in second world war, that help spanish conqueror to exterminate native people in suoth america, that help pinochet, videla, ecc.. religium = aids
@jako348 If you label a group of people under one group its like calling all those who are Vegetarians are bad all those who are religious are bad, grouping people into groups doesn't mean that a couple of people represent it entirely they take no hold on the actions of others. what you claim to believe doesn't make you who you are its yourself. A person could be going to church and not believe God for all we know or could claim to beCatholic but doesn't follow his own religion
It should not be forgotten that there was similar establishments for protestants in Northern Ireland, (I know because I was in one). I commited no crime but was unfortunate to have a very convincing liar of a mother. Her actions have had a devastating effect on my life. For those who believe in Karma believe me it doesn't exist my mother still lives at 89 and has lead a fruitful life.
it's an extremly intense movie....but it shows something important about the catholic church...yesterday i went to church and there the priest talked about humanrights and that the catholic church laid the foundation for human rights...and now i watched this movie, which breaks the human rights in every possible way
can somebody explain to me about crispina. was she mental at the end? it really freaked me out. however the film is so good and i cannot believe how recent the last one closed!i have watched it so many times <3
Believe me it is real, and not just in the Catholic faith. The fundamentalist Baptists have had homes with abuse and sex abuse for decades now. They can be found all over the world. Check out Survivors of Institutional Abuse and read the horror stories of Rebekah Home for Girls, Texas, New Bethany Home for Girls Arcadia, Louisiana and New Beginnings Girls Academy in LaRussel, Missouri. The separation of Church and state laws protect them from investigation and scrutiny.
according to one of the ex inmates it was actually worse than the film depicted =/ wow.. i loved the film though, really well made.. makes your heart swell up though.. sigh.. how could the nuns think for a second, that god shined upon them..
If prisons are privatised then much of their treatment of inmates would go unregulated. Therefore punishments in prisons could be extremely harsh and against the prisoners human rights. Just because they have committed a crime doesn't mean they should be treated cruelly when doing their time! What if they stole medicine that they couldn't afford? Just because they are a criminal is it fair to treat them so despicably like in the film? No human should be treated like that.
This is the exception . I grew up with Nuns in a catholic Girls school and they all were lovely, gentle people. Its disgraceful that this happened,This is not the way of Christ. These certain religious people were evil. Jesus taught us to love one another, FORGIVE our SINS as we all are sinners. Obviously these nuns needed to be taught a lesson or two . Dirty bitches!
THE IS THE FUTURE FOR AMERICA! with the privatization of prisons in this country. the prison corporations are paying the judges and politicians to make and enforce laws that lock up more and people. its already happening. there have been loads of stories when laws are being past for some of the most trifling stuff imaginable. there was a case down south a corrupt judge sending youth to prison for kickbacks.
Gabriel byne's book, Pictures in My Head, has a part that tells how he and his father picked flowers for a nun at school. It was a request that the children bring flowers for some special thing, I don't remember what. He was late for school that day and came running in with his flowers. When the nun who was the teacher saw them, she made fun of them and ripped them to shreds. I cried all day after I read how that child was treated.
@oh2love4love hahaha! Well it's a nice idea isn't it? Unfortunately "violence" is something that is impossible to stop in the animal kingdom. And humans are animals. Besides, there is no clear line on what violence is exactly. Is violence hitting someone? What if they hit you first? Is violence eating meat? Is violence physical discipline? What about yanking someone's arm to stop them from running into the street and getting hit?
@groovylocks you're laughing about violence! obviously you aren't yet "there"...understanding right and wrong behavior doesn't have to be absurd as you so lamely displayed here. ugh
@oh2love4love Laughing about violence? Did you even read what i wrote? You read the words haha and didn't read anything past that. "right and wrong" have nothing to do with it. I posed some very well thought out philosophical questions that you didn't bother to address.
@oh2love4love your'e obviously quite pompous. You should really be more observant of what people are actually saying. I asked some very good and very pointed questions that are an avenue for intelligent discussion. between intelligent people. i'm sorry i misunderstood you.
@oh2love4love I would hope you don't get butthurt and call names and i'm pleased that you didn't. This was meant to open up an interesting dialogue. If you have nothing to add to it, that's ok. I'm not interested in changing your mind.. merely to probe it's inner workings.
@groovylocks how can you go from this: @valericool in my opinion.. everyone in this film was a victim of a system that somehow got really weird and out of control. As human systems so often do... I felt sorry for all of them. The nun was what she was because it's a cycle of abuse and she grew up probably treated very similarly.
groovylocks 2 months ago ---- to your comment to me here today? odd!
This was the most horrifying movie I have ever watched in all my life. only Schindler's list is more horrible. for me, those are the real horror movies.
this movie made me cry so much, i have been looking for this movie everywhere. and yet i found it :] havent seen it in over 4 years. this is the saddest movie ever..
It's shameful how some people like to use God's name to humilliate and judge others. I believe in God, but I think so many people in the catholic church has used His name just to do a lot of fucking shit. What a bunch of lame assholes, and poor women.
@valericool in my opinion.. everyone in this film was a victim of a system that somehow got really weird and out of control. As human systems so often do... I felt sorry for all of them. The nun was what she was because it's a cycle of abuse and she grew up probably treated very similarly.
im actually crying it''s so sad about crispina/harriet and her little boy and i just love bernedette <3 not fair the way they had to suffer for stupid things back in the year''s <3
I read those institutions closed not because they became infamous or something, merely because families bought home Washing machines...they weren't useful anymore, there was no business.
If it wasn't for that all this would continue till today
See their lives must be goes on... If they stay in that f**kn laundry i think they are grow old get more money for shit nuns and dies ...
