I was honored to meet Wangari Maathai in 2006, take a photo with her during her trip to Boston and learn more about her important work. She was a visionary champion who fought an uphill battle against powerful political forces who opposed her leadership. She won on many fronts and proved that women can lead in the fight to save the environment. May God bless her soul, and may she rest in peace.

She was listening 2 the universe. sez girl, this planet is a plant-it u gotta take care of it 2. so she do. now I feel better bout it.
by the way, there's nature waitin' 2 work with u. the monkeys and squirrels for openers. Squirrels helped me once -- in one day the whole giant bag of nuts was GONE! they planted them in neighbors' yards where I couldn't go!
