  • It's not really new technology, China, Korea, Japan, UK, Australia, Egypt and Africa have had this technology for about 8 years now.

  • It looks like one thing they did for getting more heat in colder air was to increase the size of the outside unit's coil surface area.

  • I own this heat pump. It is so much better than Carrier's last "best in show" that it is crazy. My HYBRID system hits 12.5 HSPF.

  • "Is the 25VNA Inverter unit available in a straight-cool model?"

That would be like buying a $50,000 Mercedes Benz and asking for a transmission that doesn't have reverse hoping to save $500. It's simply absurd. Even if you lived in Key West.

Technology makes AC obsolete. Communicating Gas Furnace/Heat Pump is the best solution. Anybody that buys a high end straight AC either has not been properly educated by their rep, is simply too stupid to comprehend this simple concept, or both.

  • @HVACKID94 Umm, never mind. I'm just going to stay quiet.

  • Thats' a pretty strong basis!! Sorry you got your panties in a twist. Trane/American Standard are a quality product. Didn't realize this was a brand issue. Clearly what "Hybrid" means hasn't sunk in. Hybrid means you HAVE a gas furnace, and a heat pump that works in 2 directions instead of 1. (Maybe it's beyond your ability to comprehend, but others reading your post should be aware that your opinion is not based upon an understanding of this topic, more based upon antiquated bias.)

  • My mother's 2 stage Infinity heats her house to 7f without breaking a sweat. Can't wait to see how this unit works...

  • This is great can you plz try to tell me how much this is going for ? say a 2.5 ton and 3 ton unit.

  • @67tr876 Price is going to vary greatly depending on location and contractor. I would suggest meeting with your local carrier dealer. That being said, this is the most expensive residential unit that Carrier makes. Well worth every penny in my opinion.

  • Is the 25VNA Inverter unit available in a straight-cool model?

  • @84randomdude The inverter is only available in the heat pump.

  • @GreenTreeOmaha damn... Guess I'll stick with the Trane XL20i then.

  • @84randomdude Just curious, but why wouldn't you want the heat pump. You get all the benefits of the inverter in both cooling and heating. XL20i is a great unit though. It just doesn't compare to the variable capacity range of the GreenSpeed.

  • @GreenTreeOmaha I guess I just prefer a straight-cool unit with a gas furnace. Specifically speaking, a Trane XL20i with a Trane XC95m modulating 3 stage furnace.

  • You prefer gas heat to hybrid heat? Based upon what experience? Sounds like a knee jerk response. Let me help you understand how that looks to a pro - that's like saying you prefer a 28 mpg car to a more comfortable 40 mpg car. Heat pumps basically add stages to your furnace, so if you like 3 stages, you'll love 5 to infinite.

  • @EESLLC14610 Based on owning a freaking straight-cool unit and gas furnace for 10 freaking years now. Grandparents' have a heat pump. I would take the furnace. DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT? And IF I got a heat pump, it would STILL be a Trane XL20i.

  • @84randomdude ---we haven't as of yet installed the inverter heatpump..I love the UI on the existing Infinity line, although American standard has them beat on the ability to control airflow...TVA inspectors don't know enough about Infinity to tell if they are moving correct CFM (especially in Heating mode) but overall between York's Affinity, American Standard's acculink, & Carriers Infinity, from this tech's standpoint, Carrier has them all beat badly...hands down, especially in a zone system.

  • @king4aday1976 OK. I'm still going with a Trane XL20i with a Trane XV95 furnace. I have a brand preference of Trane.
