@luddesonnesjo for an ele shaman mana shouldnt be too much of an issue, as long as u use Thunderstorm when you get low, and make sure ur LvB never hits without Flame Shock up (when you crit, it reduces the cost of your next two abilities by 40% thanks to the talent "Elemental Focus").

I like ur vid but i'd try to always cast a shock in the end of the cast of a lightning bolt or a lava burst to get the most out of my globals. u did that most of the times but at some points u didnt. dunno if that was just in the heat of battle if u can call bashing down a dummy a battle =)

@PalaBotwin i'd have to see the instance where i did that in order to say what happened but it was prolly that i just didnt notice, orrrrr my flame shock was gonna wear off in like 3 seconds and i didnt wanna have to wait to be able to reapply it (because of the 5-6 sec CD on it if i used it w/ 3 seconds left on the DoT i'd have to wait 2-3 seconds while the DoT fell off and the CD was still going)

I play elemental shaman for Pve but im on a REALLY low dps im usualy on 9-11k i dont know if its because of my gear or if im doing something incorrectly ive got 3/5 Regalia of the raging elements ive got the boots for Jp and cloak and basicaly everything you can get from jp and the rest is from za/zg any advice?

Why don't you use Unleash Elements for the increased fire damage on your next spell? Is it a waste of a GCD?

@jjklumiar thats a good question (one that i had for a while) and the reason is that you LOSE DPS, its actually a wasted GCD for the most part. someone tipped me off to this, i tested it (over and over for accuracy) and turns out its true. you can do the same thing. run a 3-5 min DPS test WITH UE then run it again WITHOUT it and compare the data.

@piszczek1987 if you do noticeably better on bosses w/ haste then stick with that. boss dps > dummy dps (keep in mind in raids you've got other buffs and what not, so haste may just scale better w/ those buffs)

elemental totems is merely 1 gGD, and the autoattack or moving close to boss would not justify itself imo. If I understand your position on "you want to bring ur biggest hitting ability IMMEDIATELY after FS" correctly, you mean that I should fill with LB/CL, until I proc lava surge and then FS + insta LvB? If so, then I think that its not worth to wait for Lava surge proc and just hardcast that 1.3 sec LvB and renew the FS when it's getting down to 5 sec'ish (and the ES with 7 stacks is used ok)

Thx for the review, will try it out on the dummy again. Btw. You most definetly want the Glyph to cast LB while running. In Firelands most fights you are constantly moving from smth or to somewhere. Plus I myself am using the flame shock duration glyph over the Lava Burst 10%? dmg, because in my case it turns to be a dps upgrade with my playstyle.

About the rotation and getting into combat. I don't really agree with autoattacking or moving close to boss, because casting flame shock before

@Xylumx the totems are 1 GCD HOWEVER if you're familiar there is that bug that if you cast your searing totem before you enter combat it doesnt do anything. i think this also applies to the fire totem ele (TOTALLY NOT SURE THO) and if thats the case, then you'd want to get into combat/auto attack to make sure he's actually doing something. for the next point, you comletely misunderstand me. what i'm saying is that you want to FS then Elemental Mastery + LvB (not use CL/LB to build up a free one)

@DravenCarey21 ran closer to the boss. you dont FS until AFTER you're totems (so that ur DPS doesnt start gettin counted before you're ready). so you'd prepot, get into combat, use ur CD's (once u know ur Fire Ele wont bug) summon ur Ele totems, and then FS. this should clear up any confusion :)

also i checked ur toons armory link. everything looked good except ur reforging. i plugged ur toon into an optimizer (wowreforge . com) and saw that ur missing out on about 100 haste rating.

@DravenCarey21 to see what i mean, goto the website, type in ur name/server and hit the "Load" button. then go about half way down when you see the numerical values. this model has mastery valued higher than haste, but after lookin at ur gear i see u prefer haste over mastery. so swap the haste/mastery values out with each other. then hit the "Optimize" button at the bottom of the screen and wait. after its done you'll see two collumns. the first is ur origional reforging, the second is their

@DravenCarey21 reforging recommendations (which are almost always better than urs because computer > human brain with calculations). NOW you'll see it tells you to give up some haste on certain items and that seems like crazy talk HOWEVER you will (in the end) actually be gaining haste (i added it up). so the best way to compare is to take a screenshot of ur stats (all of them) and then do the reforging it suggests (only the stuff in RED, green is what you did right) and take another screenshot

First off, thank you for a really nice video, not many people take the time for making those (or in my case, just have an old laptop). Anyway, I'm commenting for my shaman video. You can Check me out while your read, "Mustkass" on Al'Akir EU server. I have a 4 set FL Tier and my rotation has many differences, so I would be pointing out the rotation for FL raiders. I did my testing on a Boss dummy. You allready mentioned the Fire totem doing nothing when cast out of combat, so theres that.

Now the things to clarify : 1) Elemental Mastery with Lighting bolt because, Lighting bolt has a longer cast time, I still cast

Lava Burst as a priority, but Elemental mastery goes with LB

2) Chain Lightning dmg is around the same as LB but the cast time is significantly lower. But if you have any kind of mana issues, don't use CL, just stick with LB.

3) Commenting on this video uploaded, you used LB instead of a 7 stack Earth Shock on Lighting Shield, even more, you didnt even use it for "quite some time" when it was stuck on 9 stacks and you had LvB cd and FS up, which imo is a big enough dps loss.

4) With FL 2 set, my dmg spells have a chance to reset the cd on Fire elemental totem, so the fire elemental uptime is 100%.

5) I use Power Auras so I can clearly see LS stacks/Flame shock Duration/F-Elemental availability etc.

Now the Priority : Flame shock uptime 100% --> Fire elemental uptime 100% --> LvB (Especially instant procs) --> CL cd --> LB filler.

Elemental Mastery should be used every cd, I have 4-5 cd's to keep my eyes on (including Engi hand tinker etc) they have a prio like

elemental mastery does.

Enough said about rotation and priorities. So down to the numbers. I didnt use food or Flask or Bloodlust on Boss dummy. I totalled exactly 30 min and 7 sec, with the dps of 29400. Sorry for the lenght and spam, Would really like to post my own vid with my reccomendations, but I can't. I really hope you got some ideas from my posts. @DravenCarey21 included) to benefit from ur racial (faster ticks if ur a troll, harder ticks if ur an orc). also i have the totems down before FS because the way DPS works is once you enter combat (casting FS) your meter will start to track everything right? so in order to keep it as high as possible you want to go into combat with all your hardest hitting abilities lined up (totems in this case) which will allow you to immediately start pumping out DPS once your FS hits the target

@DravenCarey21 now with that same logic in mind, if you want to pump out as much DPS as possible in the fastest amount of time possible, then you want to bring ur biggest hitting ability IMMEDIATELY after FS (in this case LvB). now whats a better way to increase your damage per second than to not wait for the cast time and simply insta-cast it. so now you have a LvB and a Chain Lightning going out within the cast time of 1 CL + 1-2 GCDs as opposed to 1 LvB + 1 LB within the cast time of 1 LvB

@DravenCarey21 being active due to casting them BEFORE entering combat is still present, then you'd want to keep the same rotation BUT after prepotting make sure you get close enough to the boss/adds that you actually enter combat (shouldnt be longer than about 3 sec to enter combat/get positioned). from here you'd continue ur rotation the way i've laid it out (imo ofc) and your dps wont suffer any (just dont cast FS or any damaging spells before you've set urself up and your into combat)

so aparently. the t12 2 piece bonus can boost ur dps by up to 6-7k. depending on how u line up ur procs. i actually dropped my LW and alch profs for tailoring and enginneering for the big int procs to buff my fire elemental more on fights like baleroc im topping mages and shit its awesome!

@iSNIPEthings no not necessarily, i mean if you dont plan on using it (i've not spent too much time raiding in 4.2 as ele) then dont take it. i mean offhand the only instance i can even think of where you might use it (outside of trash mobs) is on HM Rhyolith to help slow down obsidians, most other times the adds die so fast that they wont be sitting in it for long enough to make it worth the mana needed to cast it. so i would imagine you'd do just fine without it

@WoWSereathGaming for PvE it really depends on what u have the gear for. but if i had to give an anser i'd say enhancement (atleast for me thats the case, by a significant margin). for PvP i have no clue seeing as i dont PvP on my shaman, but my brother plays ele and does quite well, so atm i'd prolly say ele (dont hold me to it). i'd imagine the best PvP spec is whatever you're best at playing lol :)

Can you explain to my why you dont use Chain Lightning in your single target rotation? It normally hits about the same as LB for me but cast time is same as LvB. Im just confused at your rotation not including it.

As for resto, which is my main spec, its alot harder to make a tanking/healing guide because i cant just goto a dummy and show ppl how to react to incoming damage and what not. and in order to do that i'd have to run a bunch of dungeons/raids and hope i get the footage i want that i can comment on. and doing that is just a pain in the ass :/

@Xzenock0343 no, i thought that too when i first dusted off my ele sham and after doing some research and some testing, UE comes out to be a dps loss UNLESS you're moving, however now that we can cast LB as we move, i expect it to still be a DPS loss. feel free to use it in ur rotation (right before u cast a LvB) and then try without it, if you somehow get higher dps then stick to it, if not, like me, just start excluding it :) . hope this helped
