@ihearrtmakeeuup7 No, my hair stays straight! You can try using a styling lotion prior to straightening. Big Sexy hair makes a few flat iron/straightening products that work really well :)
I purchased the GHD gold series classic styler a few months ago and I absolutely love it! It's fantastic and straightens my hair much faster than my previous straightener and I feel that it also adds shine to my hair. It only takes me 10 mins to straighten my hair now and I have thick black hair. Also my sister purchased the original wide plate GHD 5 years ago and it still works fantastically.
My GHD does not have ceramic plating. It has Aluminum plating with Kyocera technology and ceramic HEATING. Most GHD's do. Yours looks similar to my own, save for the color. It should be the same, because only the Original with tan plates are ceramic.
hello Rae! may i ask u where u can get the ghds in store insetead of online?! becuz i don't have my own credit card yet! pease reply soon becuz my hair is really unruly!!!
@beautylogic234 You can try looking it up online at GHD's website. I don't know where you live but Empire Beauty Supply shops in CA carry GHDs in store!
Hey! I loved the review!! My only question is if the GHD will work with my hair. I have thick curly hair. With the self heating plates I don't know if it will work better than the KQC? And advice?
I'm thinking of getting a new flat iron, i used to have the sedu, the standard size but it broke. I am looking into the KQC and SEDU, i think the GHD is too expensive for me. which one do you prefer?
Interesting points here, I love me some RaeViews! Thanks for always being so earnest and honest. Yours is an important and valuable voice here in the YT beauty community. Take care!
Hello im a new subscriber, been watching ur reviews and tutorial videos, they r great :) im living in France and im trying to find the lipstick, Lancome l'absolu rouge in Rich Cashmere but the products here go by number so could u pls tell me what number is this lipstick? Thx so much in advance ^^
I was so happy to find you here. When I found your channel, I watched all of your videos in 2 days. I finally found you who has big eyes like me and has the eye lids like me. Not many Asian girls have the eyes like us. I watched many Asian make up tutorials but their videos didn't help me. Your videos are so helpful for me. You are so talented. This look is so pretty on you. Can you show me how to draw the eyeliner in this look. Thank you so much for your very helpful videos
Hi Rae! I'm sorry if this question is too random, but which do you prefer more: Lancome's Teint Miracle or Burberry's Sheer Luminous Foundation? Which did you find gave you a better glow? Thank you so so so so much!
@yayaxp I prefer Lancome's Teint Miracle but if you're looking for the glow, try Burberry's Sheer Luminous! It is more like a tinted moisturizer in coverage and it's best for dry to normal skin :)
At first I was like, "Wow, Rae inspires me to do my own makeup reviews on youtube!" But then after watching you more and more, I was like, "Wow, I could never do reviews as well as Rae, so I shouldn't even try." Haha ;)
@dorizzztown LOL! You are too sweet; thank you <3 I have OCD tendencies and I'm a perfectionist, plus I'm quite the nerd... so it drives me crazy to watch less-than-thorough reviews. I know I can be a bit verbose at times but it's just my nature. And don't be discouraged! You just have to develop your own style - be yourself and trust in your capabilities :)
You do really give the best advice and I've just bought about all the skincare products you've recommended in your videos and they've all worked and your recommendation for the ghd was also great! I dont have hair getting snagged and after you use it, the hair's still shiny which surprises me so much. Thanks ^^
I love watching your videos so much! This helped me a lot, i'm still trying to decide whether to purchase the KQC or the GHD still~ It's a tough choice! My hair gets damages very easily, i've given up styling my hair with heat for over 4 months O.O
i loved my GHD's i had the purple set that were limited edition a few years ago then at some point i found they really snagged, then i started using my mums which are normal GHD's and they feel a lot smoother on my hair, i have no idea why, the only difference i can see when looking at them is the outer casing of the originals are a different texture to the smooth plastic of the L.E.
A far cheaper option that mimics the GHD travel appeal, is remmington. Mine was £40 as opposed to £130 for GHD. it came with the roll up pouch/heat proof mat, with removable zip ppouch and zipped pocket for accessories. BUT unlike the GHD it had variable heat control and the ceramic plates are tourmaline coated...well worth checking out if you're a teen or just have limited funds like me.....Although having said all that, I'm still lusting after a GHD! Great review as always, so useful! Xx
i so appreciate your videos. also love the chanel black pearl on your nails. do you feel that chanel lasts longers than other top brand nail products?
Thankou so much for the review! Still I havent made up my mind on which brand should I purchase from yet....however GHDs always on the top of my list since its more accessible where I live :( Im also very curious about Cloud Nine....wt is your thought?
Hmm.... I've been debating whether or not to make the splurge for a quality hair straightener. It's been narrowed down to the GHD but Youtube keeps introducing me to all these different brands. Well now, I think I'm gonna make a GHD dive!
I prefer the results with the KQC and it seemed to work faster. If I was in the market for one I would choose the KQC. But I have one that I'm happy with.
I got a Sedu Revolution set as a Folica VIP sale that was held a few years ago where they had a diff value pack each day. I got the Sedu set for around $139 that included the Revolution, a mini sedu flat iron, a case with a detachable heat protectant wrap thing (just like the GHD one), a comb, a brush, 4 clips, and a pack of 3 full sized Sedu heat protectant sprays! I've never seen a better deal since then on the Sedu Revolution since then! so glad I got it then! It was an AMAZING value!
I used to have a CHI and loved it at first, I thought is was so great! But then I noticed my hair was getting so dry, especially the ends. Then it eventually died - only after 1 year. I replaced it with a GHD and there is no comparison I feel. My hair isn't dry anymore, it's shiny/smooth, and it works quickly....I love it! Great review :)
@nicci833 I'm glad to hear you found redemption with your GHD! Let's all stay away from CHI.. I've heard too many first-hand negative accounts about CHI iron performance :/
also, GHD is a UK based company so the GHD is actually really reasonably priced in the UK (half price). also, the newer GHD ones have "Contains Nanosilver™ which has anti-bacterial properties. The body is now 50°F cooler than the current generation of stylers, making the ghd Gold Professional Styler cooler to touch and lighter to handle." so i want to get a new one HAHA. which do you prefer, the Midnight or the Dazzle gift set? Neither seems to have the new technology tho :(
GHD is such a better deal now than it was 2 years ago i'm jealous lol. I purchased the Limited Edition White one for $300 and all it has is a lame case :( the box it came in was NICE though. haha I feel as if my GHD is dying though. it takes nearly 15-18 seconds to heat up vs the 10 it used to be. You asked me before how long it takes me to straighten my crazy korean hair & its only 10 min. for me but it looks even faster for you?!
@graciekae I totally wanted one of those white LEs! It was way too much money at the time for me, though.. for years, I didn't brush my hair before going to school - much less straighten it LOL But yes, it takes me less than 10 minutes to straighten my hair! It takes me just a touch longer with the Sedu :)
You make a great case for the ghd and I do so love the packaging, the only drawback I see (and it's a pretty big drawback in my books) is that it doesn't have a heat setting dial. I'm really afraid that the ghd is going to be too hot for my already straight hair and it'll damage it, because I don't think I need an extremely hot iron. (Yes I have straight hair, but wavy bed-head straight like you have in the video.)
@Teilse What you see in the video is my natural hair! You shouldn't have problems :) The GHD is assumed to have a maximum temperature of 350 degrees, as to prevent damage!
I'm thinking about getting a Sedu but I'm concerned about the steam that comes out when it passes through the hair. I have a HAI Convertable now and there's no steam but it takes several passes to straigten. Do you know why the Sedu steams? Thanks! :)
i'm so happy you posted this video! i was going back and forth between these two irons. i recently bought the pink ghd from sephora, and it kind of scares me how hot it makes my hair while i'm straightening it... almost too hot to touch! does this ever happen to you? it makes me worried that it's damaging my hair since i can't adjust the heat setting. however, i do have surprisingly thick, asian hair so i wonder if it can sense that... your thoughts would be appreciated (:
@khickengurl Try to swipe down in quick successions, as I do :) I know some people prefer to drag the iron down slowly but that's just more damaging! Make sure you use a heat protectant, even if you have thick hair <3
i have both of those irons as well, and i find it odd that you say the ghd makes your hair feel smoother because it always makes my hair feel brittle and dry, which is why i went out and bought the sedu. the sedu makes my hair soft and shiny, but it seems like it takes longer to straighten my full head of hair. but i will agree that the ghd is a much more versatile hot tool and is much more efficient at curling.
@kiketsu Really? All the of the GHDs I've used in the past leave me with silky soft hair. Do you use any hair products at night and/or prior to straightening?
@RAEview i know, i was surprised too since i had heard nothing but good things about the ghd. i don't usually add in any extra products at night, but i do use heat protectant every time i use any sort of hot tool. i've tried many types of thermal care products, thinking that it was those causing my hair to be so dry, but when i finally switched over to the sedu, i didnt have a problem with any of them.
I don't know about the Sedu Flat Iron, but GHDs are really big in Australia... I don't regret buying it at all, it's actually around $250+ AU but I've had the white one (not the white and pink breast cancer edition) since it was released and it's still as fantastic as it was when I first bought it. I love it for both straightening and curling.. the GHD has a special technique to get the nicest curls a flat iron can achieve.. :)
@ihearrtmakeeuup7 No, my hair stays straight! You can try using a styling lotion prior to straightening. Big Sexy hair makes a few flat iron/straightening products that work really well :)

@ilyj7 That's a toss-up. I like the KQC a lot but it's heavier than the GHD! I'd say GHD > KQC > Sedu.

I own a ghd and I love it.

i'm so happy you posted this video! i was going back and forth between these two irons. i recently bought the pink ghd from sephora, and it kind of scares me how hot it makes my hair while i'm straightening it... almost too hot to touch! does this ever happen to you? it makes me worried that it's damaging my hair since i can't adjust the heat setting. however, i do have surprisingly thick, asian hair so i wonder if it can sense that... your thoughts would be appreciated (:
khickengurl 1 year ago
@khickengurl Try to swipe down in quick successions, as I do :) I know some people prefer to drag the iron down slowly but that's just more damaging! Make sure you use a heat protectant, even if you have thick hair <3

The Cloud Nine straightener will be worth reviewing too. It's like a GhD iron with a temperature gauge (made by the same people).

i have a sedu and it broke within 3 months. grrrr. so with that said, i'm going to save up for a GHD!

@xoOnatalieOox Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that. I've dropped my GHD already and it was just fine so I'm sure you'll have better luck :)

whats the difference between a cermanic plate and Nano Tourmaline
zzriel 1 year ago
@zzriel Both are ceramic but Nano Tourmaline is more advanced technology, which is supposed to protect your hair better!

a good iron will straighten you hair with one run through. You went over each piece like 10 times!
plumpkinpatch 1 year ago
@plumpkinpatch That's because I set the temperature very low, as to not damage my sensitive hair!

I have a GHD flat iron and absolutely luv it!!! The best one I've ever owned. It's straightens and curls so lovely :). Great review!!!
moesh21 1 year ago
i have both of those irons as well, and i find it odd that you say the ghd makes your hair feel smoother because it always makes my hair feel brittle and dry, which is why i went out and bought the sedu. the sedu makes my hair soft and shiny, but it seems like it takes longer to straighten my full head of hair. but i will agree that the ghd is a much more versatile hot tool and is much more efficient at curling.
kiketsu 1 year ago
@kiketsu Really? All the of the GHDs I've used in the past leave me with silky soft hair. Do you use any hair products at night and/or prior to straightening?
RAEview 1 year ago
@RAEview i know, i was surprised too since i had heard nothing but good things about the ghd. i don't usually add in any extra products at night, but i do use heat protectant every time i use any sort of hot tool. i've tried many types of thermal care products, thinking that it was those causing my hair to be so dry, but when i finally switched over to the sedu, i didnt have a problem with any of them.
kiketsu 1 year ago
@kiketsu At least the Sedu works for you! And it's cheaper, too hehe
